I recently got into the game and i can't quit playing it. This is the best stoned game I have found. I have spent 20 good hours trying to reverse vampirism and I am pissed.
How long or what level have you played this addiction to?

yeah, I've probably logged about 30 hours and have yet to follow the main story.

I played about 200 hours over the course of a couple years. Don't bother taking the cure. The benefits of being a vampire far outweigh the costs. Just get to a guild or inn if you begin to take sun damage and wait for nightfall. Then break into someone's room or house and feed.

Someone please save me from this game. I can play for hours and not accomplish anything. I get so easily distracted, I can't complete the quests. It's so addictive I can't turn it off.
If you see thunder_fist online, for the love of God send me a COD4, Warhawk, MLB 08, or even a Rainbow Six invite. I also have the Motorstorm game that came with the system, that has never been opened. Anything to make me eject that game.

I'm not sure what augle means, but I really like the game. It's a big world and there's so much to explore that, I'm constantly pulled off track. I still haven't finished GTA4 because it was just the same shit over and over, but there's so much to Oblivion that it's still fun even though I rarely complete a quest.
My only complaint is the fighting. I guess it's because I'm just a low level character, but it gets really frustrating when I'm getting my ass kicked and my guy just stands there no matter how many buttons a I hit and how fast I do it. I have to run in, strike, run away, repeat.

When you reach higher and higher levels you can do better damage but the enemies level with you. You can get alot of better weapons by completing quests and if you are in the mages guild you can eventually make your own magic weapons and armor. Also, make sure to go into alot of Oblivion Gates because closing the gate gets you a sigil stone that you can add to your favorite weapon and make it better. I wish this game was never created - I wasted about 6 months of my free time on it.

Thanks. I was wondering what the Sigil stone was for. I have one from Kvatch. I'm in the mages guild but my magicka level stinks and the spells have been too expensive. I've been wandering around the woods for about a week now looking for that damn ninroot. As soon as I find it all, the plan is to head into town to buy a spell.
Upon proofreading that paragraph, I realize I am now a dork.

I love this game. What's everyone's preference in your character? I made mine magic & spell heavy.

I have only played as a battlemage - hard hitter with strong magic abilities.
Do you have the shivering isles and knights of the nine expansions? Alot more game play awaits.

All of the expansions, even the little miniquests (out on XBL, I don't know if PS3 has them yet).

I've played about a couple hundred hours, mainly because I keep restarting and making a new character. About the only thing I haven't done is the main quest.

Is there any point in actually reading books? I see that there's some clue in the Mythic Dawn ones, and that I get a notice if I gain a skill, but other than that I just flip through and put them down. Am i missing anything?

There are times that when you read a certain book, a certain skill/attribute increases.

Fucking trolls are whooping my ass. How can I kill these guys? I'm on the magic paint brush quest and I only get enough turpentine to kill two trolls.
I jumped up an a ledge, tagged one troll with two turpentine arrows, sunk 50+ arrows in him, tried all kinds of magic, jumped down for a little combat, and the bastard still mowed me down. The only way to kill them seems to be 3 turpentine strikes.
I tried to Walter Payton the quest too. I can get to the brush, but then all 4 trolls gang up and stomp me and the artist guy, much to the delight of my wife.

do a lot of sneaking, so you only fight one at a time, dont head straight for the brush, kill some of the trolls in the other direction first so they dont hear you fighting and run over, when being attacked jump up onto a rock, usually the troll wont be able to follow or hit you... if he does just get back on the rock and youll be safe for a bit. to attack use summons, they will distract the troll and damage it, itll take forever but the troll will die.

This strategy worked for me. As soon as you start the quest turn left and go throught the woods all the way until you reach the big area with the item you must get. Then go back the same way - some trolls will follow you but after a few times trying - you can make it to the point where you meet the dude near the entrance.

Thanks guys. I did finally complete this one. I was going completely the wrong way. If you go backwards from where you start and jump over the rocks, you only have to deal with 2 trolls. I think this is what Bob did too.
I tried to get one to follow me back, so I could unleash him on the town folk, but the thing wouldn't leave the house, and when I went back in he was gone.
