I'm looking for some cheap web hosting. Anybody out there that you've had good dealings with? Any suggestions would be spectacular.

What kind of services do you need? Just some basic html? php? mysql? perl?

All of the above would be good. It's not going to be a very in depth site. Just looking for somewhere to test a few things out.

if you're looking for a place just to test things out, your ISP should offer you some amount of free website space with your account, if not www.freewebs.com is a free hosting site, but you can't upload via ftp, you have to use their browser based utility....one file at a time. If you buy a domain name on Godaddy, you can opt for the free web hosting, if youre looking to upload just html files and pictures, you just get an ad banner for godaddy at the top, and can always upgrade.

Then you can host it on your own computer.

I've got an old compaq that I've set up as a server and from time to item I'll use it to host pics, job descriptions when I'm hiring, family stuff, email, or whatever.

I would LOVE to be in a job interview where my boss had the board name "old lady face puncher"

I'm trying to upload my girlfriends website using godaddy and I can't figure the damn thing out. I need to do a bit more research on this crap

I use aplus.net. They cost a bit more for the most basic service (you only get one MySQL database on the cheapest plan) but it's nice to use a site you can trust. They were rated #1 by CNET for hosting. I payed $25.91 for 3 months of hosting and a year's registration of a domain name.
