Ghosts I-IV (also known as Halo 26) is the sixth studio album by Nine Inch Nails and was released on March 2, 2008. It contains 36 instrumental tracks and was recorded in ten weeks of fall 2007.[1] Initially intended to be a five-track EP, the album is presented in the form of four nine-track EPs. The tracks do not have names, and are only identified by their track listing and position on the EPs.

Have you actually tried downloading it? Their server is so slow, that i ended up exceeding my download limit and can't actually get the file. :wallbash:
I'm a HUGE NIN fan. Did you like it?
I'm trying to download it now. Just ordering it took forever. Now I've had a nice blank white screen after clicking the download link.
Oh wait, here it is. Hopefully this works. I'm already resigned to the fact it will take forever.
Wow. It crapped out before one megabyte.

On February 16, 2008, Reznor posted a news update on the Nine Inch Nails website with a title of "2 weeks." On March 2, the website released Ghosts I-IV, a 36-track instrumental album. No information was given about the album until the time of its release.
He's good at keeping secrets, I guess.

It was also posted as a torrent on PirateBay. I'm getting decent dl times off there. Still waiting for it to finish, though.
--- I really have to suggest the torrent on PirateBay. It was posted by Trent and is extremely quick.

You can buy it on Amazon at the same price($5).

There's a message up basically saying that they were not expecting this much of a response, and that they're putting up more servers.

Same thing I asked. I think it may be that it's...
a 36-track instrumental album.
Sadly, so sadly, I think music companies think of instrumental tracks as not real songs, and maybe they aren't by certain definitions.
Perhaps the expectation is no uber hits worth the time money and energy of promotions will come out of instrumentals. Having said that, expectation is a prison.
Not hearing Trent imploring us to Bow Down or Bite the Hand that Feeds may leave some of us wanting, some need words or the song has no meaning.
I think Trent just keeps getting better; With Teeth is currently shredding my speaker cones, he went from a guy screaming over sequences to a songwriter [his words], and a great one.

I think most hardcore NIN fans really dig his instrumental stuff. The Quake soundtrack was fucking amazing, and songs like Ripe With Decay and La Mer are just stunning.

Downloading from Amazon right now also. It is moving along rather slowly though. I guess I can plan on listening to it on the drive to work in the morning.

There are also physical copies you can buy, at varying prices, including a $300 version with multiple cds, vinyl records, dvd with digital tracks, etc.

Ghosts IV is fucking amazing. Just absolutely breathtaking.
I'm constantly amazed by the work of Trent Reznor. He never gets stale, every album is a progression and growth from his last one. He's consistently been great for nearly 20 years now. His cd's are always innovative and new.

Tried again this morning and it downloaded fine (a little slow, but ok). It's really amazing. Plus the extras are a nice little treat.

I haven't listened to NIN in a few years. Is this more synth or guitar based?

I'm downloading it now. Quick poll: which format did you choose?
I went for Apple Lossless Format myself.

I downloaded the mp3s from Amazon. Good enough for these old ears of mine.

Just finished downloading the new piece of work. I ordered the 2 cd set for $10 and it came with a full download.
(15 minutes later)
I like what I have heard so far. The music so far sounds like the soundtrack to my daydreams, very cool.

I wonder if there will be any touring for this album. Trent has said that he wants to revamp the traditional rock band makeup to perform NIN music in the future, this could be a start.

I just saw that they have already sold out of the 300 dollar limited edition version he was selling.
Its a pretty sweet album that I am gonna waste a lot of time listening to.

I saw someone on Wackbag with the banner as a link to the NIN site, so I followed it and signed up for the free download of just Ghosts I. I'll check it out this week sometime. I was more excited about the remixes on his site of shit from both him and fans who submit them. "All the Love in the World" sounds great remixed.

For his last couple of albums, he also releases the GarageBand versions of the songs so that fans can remix anything they want.

Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."
This is only the first 4 volumes? holy shit. the following volumes I will definitely be looking for.
And it looks like the ultra-deluxe limited edition $300 set is sold out. But the Deluxe Edition $75 set is the same thing, minus the 2 Giclee art prints and of course being signed and numbered.

This album is also released under the Creative Commons license, meaning that you can feel free to remix or otherwise alter the songs however you want, as long as you give him credit for the initial track and do not pass it off as a work you totally created.

I wish I would have payed attention to this thread earlier. I love all things NIN and would have bought that 300 dollar version. I could listen to remixes of remixes all day.

Listening to the free version now. I'm probably going to go for the $10 CD version (I'm "old school" and want to add this to my other NIN CDs, I'm still not ready to totally drop CDs for electronic formats)
I really miss his vocals. I think he really has a great voice.

I do like Trents voice but I have always enjoyed the instrumental pieces that NIN has released over the years and this is just what I've always hoped for. Can't wait for more Ghosts.

I'm with you on this one Doc. I think that we are in the minority on this board and in general but I will continue to buy the actual release until they quit releasing them in a decade or so.
