I am from Maine which may sway my opinion but is it really christmas in the south. I cant imagine xmas season coming without snow. How does santa land his sleigh without snow? How does he go down your chimney, you dont have one. Isnt santa hot in his outfit or do you have a speedo santa? I just dont get it

Well, I live in Tennessee and we have snow at Christmas about once every 10 years. We dont get Santa down here - we get his cousin Earl that has a mullett and wears a Earnhart Jr. T-shirt. He cant slide down the chimney because he is on disability and that would qualify as work.
Your christmas question is a few months late.
Santa isn't real. Sorry to break it to you.

Your description of what Christmas is supposed to be is only valid to you and your reality. You were raised thinking that Chrismas = snow.
If you lived in the south, and had been raised with a different perception of what Christmas means, your description wouldn't hold water, and would seem to be the exception, not the norm.
That being said, I've lived in both the north and the south during Christmas, and Christmas in the south sucks balls.

well think of it like this. every movie and book ever made about christmas had snow and chimneys and warm blankets and snowmen and fresh pine trees. You can't have that in the south

This is exactly what I mean. Your kids must have tons of questions. And Hbox, there is a santa again once you have kids

If southerners dont need snow to feel Christmasy, why do they make all their winter wonderlands with fake snow?
oh, and merry christmas everbody!

I dont celebrate Christmas anymore but in moving from New York to North Carolina, there is definatly a different feeling of christmas in the south.

Christmas works out down here just fine. Don't worry about it. As long as Santa brings the gifts, the kids don't ask any questions.

Im going to preface this by saying Im not from the south BUT Maine is about the worst place on earth in my opinion. I find it ugly, inhospitable and full of incest. It doesnt have the charm of Vermont or New Hampshire. The coast line is either all rocky or industrial. the water never gets to the point where you can swim. Everything away from the coast is pine trees.
Enjoy your snow at Christmas but you can keep it.

also.
pine trees should be decorated for christmas.
palm trees with lights on it is just outright silly and treason, in my book.
