Does anyone have their own Host assigned to them? And, if so, what's the deal with that?

I've been going semi-regularly for years (every 2-3 months). In recent years I've been going to the Harrah's hotels (Harrah's, Showboat, Ceasar's and Bally's) and have been racking up points on their Comp Card Program. Recently I've noticed that their comps have been getting a little skimpy.

So, in the summer I signed up for the Trump One Card and started going there. Right away I noticed that I started to get free room offers for the weekend where Harrahs was only offering during the week (and I can't go during the week).

About two weekends ago I went to Trump Plaza and did OK for myself. Now, I'm not a high roller by any stretch of the imagination but I won about $1000 at the tables one night and the next I lost about $450. So, I just got a letter from a Trump Plaza host introducing himself and telling me to let him know if there's anything I need. In years of going to Harrah's, including winning a substantial jackpot, I never got a host.

So, what do I do with my host. I'd like to contact him for my next trip in a couple of weeks so that I stay on his radar. What do I ask for? Keeping in mind that I'm not exactly a high roller. Do I shoot for the moon and ask for a suite upgrade, or do I play it cool and just ask for a dinner or something? Anyone have any experience with these guys?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I only play the tables. In case you were wondering if I was a 60 year-old daytripping grandma who takes the bus down and likes to go to the all-you-can-eat buffets and play the penny slots.

You should just let your host know when you are coming and don’t ask for anything at first. Let them continue to rate you and build a relationship with him. In time he will get to know your play and start to give you comps for dinner and room upgrades. As you play more you will get better perks like car service, comp rooms etc. Think of it like you are dating. If you try and get laid the first night you might not get anything ever again. Take it slow

As for the slots it does not hurt to spend some money at the machines. Always remember that the table games are pure games of luck. The machines are set to pay out a certain percentage which is set by the state. The casino knows that for every dollar they get at a machine they are guaranteed a certain percentage. The house has good odds but not a guaranteed return on table games.

you should call into O&A and talk about gambling with Anthony. It'll be fun. you guys can talk about private limos, VIP suites, bricks of cash and how you both bet $30,000 a hand at blackjack and never seem to lose. It'll be compelling radio.

my dad has a host in vegas from harrah's. i dont think theyre anything special, they just make sure anything you want or need is taken care of so they can get you to come and gamble. over time the house always wins, they just want their shot to get some dough back. but take advantage of it, cause its a cool concept
