View Full Version : Dave Rabbit
Dave Rabbit is the moniker used by a DJ on a pirate radio station in Vietnam that played Acid Rock on his radio show, ”Radio First Termer” in 1970-71. Before becoming a pirate radio dj, he was an engineer and on his second term in Vietnam, his friend and dj of his station died in a tragic attack so he decided to have a show to uplift the soldiers. So he did broadcast out of the back of a illicit parlor with raunchy and rocking messages for 21 shows until his friends in the MP warned him that he was about to be caught. He had not broadcast in 37 years until recently with his podcasts.
Opie's tape acquired in his Geneseo college days of Dave Rabbit's broadcast will be played at 10:15 AM tomorrow(2/22) on XM 202 and probably in the replays.

I actually liked it from a historical standpoint. Not sure I'd want to hear an entire segment tomorrow (especially with poor audio quality), though.

I thought it was interesting in a historical aspect as well and funny in parts. I liked that he was anti war without being a foaming at the mouth lunatic about it. I'll tune in tomorrow.

I dug it. it was really interesting to hear a unique perspective of the Vietnam War. It's the type of thing you could never learn from a history book.

I'd love to get a copy of that tape. I like the old recordings but I had no interest in hearing the guy live 38 years later. It loses alot of its magic.

It was pretty cool when he won the freestyle contest at the end of the movie.
