THE TRUTH IS - SHE'S OUTTA THERE: Longtime X-Files heroine Gillian Anderson confirms to TV Guide Online that she will indeed quit the Fox drama this spring. "After this season, yes," she says. "My contract is up." Last July, Anderson's camp downplayed British media reports that the Emmy winner had made a firm decision to pack it in at the end of the show's ninth season. Still, although her days of portraying G-woman Dana Scully on the small screen are winding down, Anderson isn't severing all ties with her alter ego. Asked whether she's open to reprising her role in a big-screen X-Files sequel, she replies: "Yes, I am."

I think Gillian is incredibly hot, but the X-Files has been horrible this year. They should just end the show.

Scully announced that she was leaving X-Files at the end of this season 2 seasons ago. this is not news.

but yes, she's hot and yes the show really, really sucks now. it's almost painful. I don't care about any of the characters. The show should have ended before Mulder found otu what happened with his sister. The show was going downhill when you realized that ever other season they contradict what we learn the previous season. The Black Oil was the first real proof that Carter had no fucking clue.

Dogget isn't /awful/ but he's nothing extraordinary.

In addition, another stand alone X-Files movie with Dana/Fox is in pre-production.

Personally I think the show has been on 5 years too long.
