i think there are 2 other reasons they got a pass and are still on the yanks.

1. giambi was owed4 years salary at a high price and was untradable, pettite had signed or they pick up 1 year at 15 or so million so they werent going to cut him and pay him for nothing, plus they needed pitching

2. the focus by the media went by them quickly. the media cared more about bonds and now clemens. because the media made a bigger deal out of them most sheep (sorry fans ) follow what the media says and harps on. I havent heard shit about them, but before you pat petite on the back he didnt come clean at first he actually lied. when asked if he ever did steroids last summer he said no. when he got caught in december he finally admitted it then, but lied about how mcuh he used until spring taining when he admitted he did it more then he originaly said when he first got caught. there was a story on espn today the pettites father (or someone in his family) is being talked about as being a dealer of said steroids.
