Tonight, I was doing some web work and saw Bridge to Teribithia was on cable, so I figured I'd throw it on and have a cute kids' fantasy movie going while I did work. Holy crap was I wrong about this movie.
While I thought it was really good, at a certain point in this movie, it is really hard to watch, to the point where I had to stop working to watch it to the end. And no matter how much I liked it, I don't think I could ever watch it again.
Anyone else seen this movie? What did you guys think?

I read the summary of it, and I agree. It's not something I could bring myself to watch.

Yea, i watched this movie a while back.. The point where you talked about was pretty f'n hard to watch.. I know you are supposed to teach kids that those things happen but, i don't know if they are ready.. It just came out of nowhere too, no warning signs.

really funny you said this I just watched it as well, I thought it was crap, but my chick was crying her eyes out.
P.S.: I don't wanna ruin anything for people who haven't seen it. But it was his fault.

After reading the summary, I realized that we read the book in school too - although I think it was first or second grade for me. I didn't recognize the name, but I sure as hell remember the story.
The twist completely threw me - I remember being really depressed about it. I think everybody was. I remember spending the rest of the school day talking about it.
Weird how vivid the memory is.

You can blame it on him, but honestly, it was nobody's fault. A girl is dead here. It's too late to place balme

Sheepy was watching that movie while on Paltalk and he was saying "I hope nothing bad happens to those kids". I assumed that he was kidding and that he read the book as a kid and knew how it ended like everybody else (I guess it was just my generation that read it). Needless to say, it was like a gutshot when he got to the bad part. We were all sad for Sheepy.

Jesus, that sounds creepy as fuck. Why were you all watching him watching a movie?
PalTalk is odd like that.

i read the book and just remember how sad i felt. more recently i saw it, and just remember that she had died in the river, but jesus, i didnt think it would be so heart wrenching. and, to be honest, it reminded me of a friend that killed himself not too long ago, actually, about 3 years today, and i just started crying at the end, one of the few movies to make me cry. ugh, such sad movie

I was completely unfamiliar to with the book, like Sheepy, so it was just fucking painful and out of nowhere when it happened

When I saw it, I know something bad was going to happen but when it did, I was literally holding back tears. That was the second time I had to do that, the first was at the end of American History X. But, to quote Ronnie B, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.
but, a really good movie.

I might have a snappy comeback if that wasn't EXACTLY what happened.
Nobody tell Jezo about Paltalk.

Saw this with my niece and I thought it was awful and she did too. It was sort of a half-assed Neverending Story meets that My Girl with worse acting and terrible special effects. My niece was hilarious, she laughed and asked me, how do you die in a creek when the water is so shallow and even if you should know how to swim by that age.....my niece is only 7.

Yeah- rented this for my kids (5 and 7) this weekend. Thought it looked cute- like something they both would enjoy. Checked the rating- PG for some mild violence and bullying, so I thought they would be OK with it. I figured I would watch it with them and address any bullying when we saw it.
But, HOLY F did that come out of nowhere. WTF? How about a little head's up? Later, the five year old fires out "Dad, am I going to die?" and we've gotta have that talk. Thanks, Disney. I think I need to go back to previewing anything the kids watch.
