new playoff format (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/nfl_experts/post/Should-we-change-the-playoff-structure-?urn=nfl,65500)

idea is division winners dont get automatic first round home playoff game

normally i'd say i like it, but under this format the giants would have been at home in the first week instead of at tampa

might have changed things a little

I like it alot.. why should teams get rewarded for being on shitty divisions?? Plus it cuts down on teams from taking final weeks off because they have seeds locked up..

Can't say I'd be against this at all. I'd personally like to expand it so that NO team gets a bye, but we include two more spots. Some may say it's too deep, but the 1/2 seeds would get lesser teams just not a bye. I'm just not a believer in a team getting a free round in the playoffs, EVER.

The only thing in playoff sports I hate worse is the best of 5 series in the first round of MLB. This after 162 fucking games, I clearly see how it makes sense to have a shortened round to start off the postseason! I absolutely hate that setup.

if we expanded it to 8, then half of each conference will get in

and we'd have a bunch of under .500 teams making the playoffs

and then theres no reward for a team to go out and win the divison when they can do just enough to make it in and then worry about playing 100 %

I also like the idea of the Pro Bowl sans Super Bowl players being the week between the championships and the Super Bowl. In fact, a good cost-saving maneuver (if the contract with Aloha Stadium runs out) is to have the game at the same location as the Super Bowl.

I like it. I think they should do that in all sports. Who the fuck cares about a division championship anyway.

That format sucks. Why don't they just merge the 2 conferences, rotate the schedule every year and the 2 top teams with the best record play for the championship. And while they're at it, get the bottom 4 teams to play a round robin for the 1st pick in the draft so they don't tank their games on purpose.

i do like that idea, and its not like these players actually care about playing in a meaningless pro bowl

all they care about is getting nominated, so they can collect bonus money if its in their contract

I think the NFL comps them a trip to Hawaii too for them as well... not sure though.

Yeah, well, Oahu is the most commercial of all the islands. They're in a nice hotel, but it's not an all expenses paid trip. They get airfare and hotel, and that's it. The players usually bring their families with them, they can afford it.
