you have better control over the way things go on your home base. but when you go to them, you really have no out & it always winds up feeling like a never ending experience.

Going to visit my in-laws is much more painful. For starters, they live in a tiny shithole town with nothing to do but talk about what they're neighbors are doing or worse yet worry about what their neighbors think about what they're doing. Second, my mother in law doesn't drink or really want to be seen with someone who is. No booze is even allowed in the house. Their house their rules. On the other hand when they come to my house they live by my rules. I can drink, my wife can drink, her dad can drink and we can all be merry.

I chose when my mother-in-law visits me. Just disrupts my home. I come home and find her watching Fox News. She's making comments on how we should do things at our home.

It's easier visiting her. I can sit on her couch, and read/watch tv. Or I can go on an errand.

i feel trapped when people are over at my place, not when i'm at theirs. when i do the visiting, i can leave whenever i choose, how are you people trapped out? it's when they're over at your place it can be impossible to get people to scoot.

my in laws are cool , when ever we go there, its a 4 to 5 course Italian meal or BBQ,
