I think so
Football > Baseball
Whats your opinion?

The thread doesn't match the opinion in your post.
Whether or not football is better won't change the fact that baseball is America's pasttime. Baseball has much more history, that is more deeply tied into fabric of the culture of America as it was going through some of it's most intense growth.
How many of us traded or collected football cards?

Baseball should be stripped of the title Sammich
first a strike , then a juiced ball, then juiced ball players
baseball has run its course as America's Pastime
should be called America's Steriod Snoozefest

Awesome! I finally get to argue with Mojo! I've heard this was fun!
TV Ratings doesn't have any bearing on the fact that it is or isn't a "pasttime". As a matter of fact the term "new pasttime" doesn't make any sense and could have only been used by Hippo.

i agree...but if you look at attendance at games, I think the facts are heavily on the favor of baseball. And not for nothing baseball is still easy to play as far as equipment go. You need bat, ball, and glove. Here are a couple of attendance stats to back that assertion up:

It has taken over as America's Game, or America's Sport, but the age of football dominance is still too new to be considered a pasttime. People don't sit around harkening back to the days of leather helmets, where if I listen to a full day of hot stove talk Babe Ruth, Joe Dimaggio, or Roger Maris' name will invariably pop up.

I know, which is why I said "in terms of TV ratings." Because I was talking about TV ratings.
And general point...if anyone brings up steroids in baseball as if football isn't filled with juiced up monsters, well, they're not just a disgustingly fat hippo, they also might be retarded.

It's "America's Pastime" no more than the dallas cowboys are "America's Team". It's irrelevant and meaningless fodder that endures because of dull sports talk personalites reaching for something to fill 3 hours a day with.
America's pastime is hookers and whiskey.

I would say yes. Pastime means something you do to pass the time and more people watch football then baseball. Baseball was called Americas pastime because thats all they did back then. Now with so many other sports and things to do Football is the one sport that tops all the rest. I played Baseball and love baseball but baseball is so boring and slow paced. Football is exciting and non stop. That is the reason it has more fan base and support then any other sport.

Of course, there are far less football games on. It's easy to catch a game or two per week for a few months, rather than 6 per week for most of the year.

Since when is football non-stop? Unless you have two teams going no huddle, you have one team running a play...everyone stand around for 30 seconds...ok run a play...stand around for 30 more seconds...etc...ok go to commercial for 2 minutes...I love football, but it's hard to stay awake most of the time.

Well not to pick a bone with you but baseball has 81 home games while football has only 8 total games so you are comparing apples and oranges.
But i see your websites and raise you a
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/attendance
Jacksonville had the lowest rate of attendance at 88.5% while the redskins lead in attendance at 88,090 per game with an average of 110% filled no team can match that
But lets take the redskins average and put it out over 80 games and they would draw 8.8 million fans over a baseball season
And with strikes and cheating and such baseball has lost its luster long long ago and was replaced by football sometime in the mid to early 90's probably
And KHB i would disagree with your order as far as pecking order
1. Football
2. College Basketball
3. Baseball/Basketball
And i would also say that MMA/UFC is on its way to replacing baseball/basketball as #3

I could agree with your College Basketball opinion
March Madness is very popular for Brackets and Boxes, also very popular in the South Midwest and West, especially small states who dont have Pro Teams ie Kansas Kentucky
my pecking order is for Pro Sports, for all sports I may put College Basketball up in 2nd

The Jets are the team I hate more then any other team in the NFL. I hate thatIm forvced to watch the Jets every Sunday because I live in NJ.

Let me rephrase that. Football is exciting to watch baseball is boring and slow paced. If football is hard to watch then you must want to kill yourself when watching a baseball game?

Fine, the Super Bowl also demolishes the World Series when it comes to ratings. Yeah, the WS is a series, but there are often times when the total audience of a entire WS doesn't match up to the Super Bowls.
And as much as basebll is my favorite amongst the major sports by far, it simply is not the nation's pasttime in terms of what kids play these days. Not even close.

Baseball is americas past time. Football is Americas now shit. It dominates now. Dont forget thats only been about the last 15-20 years that its been that way. Football will be the Past time of America in 50 years or so at this rate, but not right now. It's still too young

I'd argue football took the top spot at least 30 years ago. Maybe more.

As far as TV ratings, I would imagine football is champion, but so is fucking American Idol.
I would have to go with baseball overall because growing up I didn't know one kid that didn't play at least a couple of seasons of baseball.
