"Quantum of Solace" is the title of the new James Bond film, the 22nd Bond adventure.
Just rolls off the tongue doesn't it?
Producer Michael G. Wilson said the title, chosen only a few days ago, was taken from a story by Bond creator Ian Fleming that appears in the collection "For Your Eyes Only."
Daniel Craig is returning as Agent 007. He picks up where 2006's "Casino Royale" left off, with Bond contemplating revenge after his betrayal by his true love, Vesper Lynd.

Who would he go after for revenge?
The organization that kidnapped Vesper's fiancee'/boyfriend and forced her to act as a double agent. They haven't said who it was in the movie Casino Royale.
In the books, it was the Soviet assasination group, SMERSH (I believe). In the books, he had a mad-on for SMERSH after Casino Royale because of what happened to Vesper. I don't remember what the story Quantum of Solace was about.
EDIT: Just looked it up, and now I remember it. The original short story was about Bond involved in a dinner party in Bermuda, and hearing a sordid story of what happened between a government official located in Bermuda, and his wife. Bond's role in the story is just as a listener to that story.
So there will be a big divergence for the movie.

Supposedly Al Pacino is going to be the real criminal mastermind behind the evil doings in this movie. He wont be revealed till the end

I'm just wondering if it will be a S.P.E.C.T.R.E. or SMERSH type group.
I don't think it will be as fantastic as S.P.E.C.T.R.E. but maybe a more realistic version.

Do you think they will use the same names (or anagrams), or will they just come up with something new?
I can see it both ways:
Clear the decks and start fresh; new Bond, new generation, new spin on the series.
or
Keep some of the old aspects to maintain familiarity and placate older fans. The groups/concepts can be re-worked, but still maintain a link to the "Bond Tradition."
I really don't know which way they might go, however I am leaning toward keeping the names but refurbishing the image. Why alienate the built-in fanbase any more than you have to?
Of course the re-imaging of Bond in "Casino Royale" wasn't really a big hit with franchise "purists," so who knows.

What Eli said, with the reminder that at the end of Casino Royale, he captures Mr White, who seems to be, at least, head liaison for the group. Solace opens just moments afterward, including I believe, his interrogation of Mr White. I've seen a clip where he tells Bond that your enemies are closer than youd ever imagine (words to that effect)... which somehow just made me think of M... as much as I'd hate that. But that last part is merely a guess of course.
As a fan of the novels, I loved what they did with Casino Royale, and am looking forward to more, changes and all!

Jack has a very distinct voice, and I like alot of his stuff... but I think Alicia wouldve been better off singing this one alone. It just sounds messy when theyre both singing, but I like the song.

My oldest son's "movie connection" just finished watching it. All who attended, hated it with a passion. One of them said Bond came off as kind of a pussy. They said explosions looked great, but fight scenes looked terrible.
All I can say is, I still love good head.

Alot of people walked away confused. There was alot going on; many different avenues Bond chased at the same time. Of course, I liked it... but of course, it wasnt as good as the last one.
That White/Keys song actually fit in nicely as a theme song.
The action, and confusion, begins immediately... but we are quickly back on track....
for about half an hour.
I liked it, but wanna watch it again to try to clear up some issues.
They say you dont have to watch Casino Royale prior to watching this, but I think it would be impossible to know some characters otherwise.

I read that it would be best for me to watch Casino Royale the night before seeing this. Heard the sequel picks up an hour after the first one ends? That right?
SO what is everyone's opinion? I'm pretty stoked about it.

I just got back and I dug it, but seriously I dig a lot of Bond movies so I'm totally biased. I really think you need to see Casino Royale before seeing this one, theres just too much overlap and if you dont see it you're missing a lot of key issues. Overall it was fun cause it was Bond but Casino Royale was better in my opinion.

What do you know, I actually agree with all of this.
I saw it with my dad and husband and they thought it was too hard to follow to be enjoyable and thought some of the camera work during the action scense was annoying.
Apparenly it did very well this weekend. The theater was packed.

i saw it yesterday. i totally agree that you would have to see casino royale before seeing quantum of solace. but then, this is only the case because Quantum is the first direct sequel to a bond flick. it was action from start to finish and daniel craig is hot

I am a movie lover but up until Casino Royal I had not seen a Bond film.
I was looking forward to the film because I figured if it was amazing then I had like years of movies to catch up on.
What I wasn't expecting was a whiny, punk who got knocked off his game because he had sex with a woman a few times. A Death Cab For Cutie soundtrack should have backed this movie up.
I wanted a Jason Bourne type character one that was quick and tough and could get the job done, but instead I got a romantic guy who knows how to order drinks and use a gun.
I was so disappointed, that I railed for days about it.

At least it wasn't a massive POS like most major releases have been this year. It was two relatively decent hours of a movie... you wouldnt understand it at all unless you watched Casino Royale, that is for sure...
The Hydrogen Fuel Cell groups should be furious after this movie - I cant imagine the PR hit this is for them...
Also, remember when Bond was doing something to save the world? Now he is just trying to prevent a fucking utilities company from controlling water rights in Boliva? Who gives a shit!

Watching Casino Royale then going to see this is your best move. I just got back and really enjoyed it. They piled on the action big time and it payed off well. What you learn is how big the "Quantum" organization really is... and it's much more about the water in Boliva, as mentioned above.
It seems the storyline will continue into the next film. The action was kick ass, so if you enjoy that, check it out on the big screen.

This is interesting to me, it seems like a low figure domestically for the record.
http://filmwad.com/quantum-of-solace-sets-record-7397-p.html
How did the other films fare? Is it a question of inflation? I always assumed they were mostly all huge blockbusters, otherwise why would the series continue on 22 times?
