I just got a new video nano about 3 weeks ago. I thought it was the greatest thing ever. It was working fine up until half an hour ago. I wanted to rock out to some David Bowie when I noticed that the sound was all warbbly. I tried a different song, a different pair of headphones and still the static warble is there. I haven't dropped it. I've been really careful with it. And now I just want to bite someone's face.
It's covered under both my Best Buy warranty and my Apple warranty, but now I have to drive to goddamn BB and it's goddamn ridiculous that you spend this type of money on a product that's essentially garbage.:wallbash:
I wanted to listen to Life on Mars:annoyed:
And so this thread isn't just about me, who else has had ipod/Apple issues?

i don't want to be a pod-person (plus, i hate iTunes), so i bought a SanDisk Sansa. couldn't be happier.
- 8 Gb (although the 16 Gb just came out)
- Expansion Card slot (8 Gb card supposed to come out this year)
- FM Radio Tuner
- Drag-n-Drop files

The only reason I went with an ipod is because I like the menu selection.
And I'm a trendy jerkoff

Before going out of your way, try to reinstall the firmware through iTunes. It will erase everything and reinstall factory settings. Also you can reset it by holding down Menu+the center button for about 5 seconds. This fixes most problems I've had, but you may have already tried that.
I have owned three Ipods before, only had a battery issue with a 3G HDD iPod, and I got that one free after it had been used for about two years.
My only beef with Apple has to do with some bugs in their new OS, Leopard. Nothing major, but at times it can slow down a bit and occasionally does some strange graphic things. I'm sure these will be fixed with the eventual software update, but it sucks for now. Then again, I may have migrated some kooky settings or crap programs.

I just restored the ipod to no avail. Looks like I'll either be taking a trip to Best Buy tomorrow or yelling at an Apple representative through my phone.
Thanks for the tip though.
I'm not even really that mad. I'm just bummed that I have to take care of this on top of a list of other problems to deal with. I need a drink.

oh, one more thing about the Sansa: user-replaceable battery. if the battery ever dies, just unscrew four screws on the back plate, pop out the old one and put in the new one.

I've had 3 ipods and never had a problem with them.
And I just got an IPhone 2 weeks ago, and it's the best damn device I've ever had. It's literally every single thing I need when I walk out the door in that little thin square. Granted, I'm all mac'ed up, but doing as much work on the road as I do, it's the best.

I don't want to jinx myself but I have had a nano for two years now and have had no trouble with. It has been everywhere and been dropped 50 times. My ipod is one of my favorite things.

i'm on my 4th ipod.
i've had 3 suffer hard drive failure. 2 of them died within the first year. the last one struggled to survive for about 2 years. it finally died. apple told me that there was nothing they could do for me.
so now, its flash drives only for me.
try a full blown format. maybe some system file got corrupted. you were listening to to david bowie. thats enough to turn anything gay.

almost 4 years of constant use and never a problem with my very loaded, iTunes free, Zen Vision (creative labs). I even used it for a couple of years for house music at the bar.
Plus FM radio and a few full length movies and clips on it and it takes flash cards for picture storage.

I refused to buy an ipod so I bought a a gigabeat. It was the greatest thing ever. I bought a new computer and it has vista, the gigabeat I purchased wouldnt work with vista. So I decided to buy a zune. the software sucked at first but now that im used to it, iot is just as great as my gigabeat was. I love the controls, it has FM radio and it doesnt code or change my music.

You don't HAVE to use iTunes with an iPod.
Why do so many people think that you do?

I've had several ipods through the years and the only probs I had were hard drive click death on a 40 gig ipod (hard drive issues can't be apple's responsibility, since they don't manufacture the hds and the ipod was several years old) and the right chennel went out in my ipod touch and apple replaced the iTouch without a problem.

never had a problem with my 60 gig until last week when i dropped it on a concrete floor. my case apparently couldn't save my hard drive.
so i went back to the 80 gig one although i was soooo tempted to get the ipod touch but its only 16 gigs and i can't do that.

Thank god for Best Buy. I walked in without my original receipt and 10 minutes later I walked out with a brand new ipod.
Their warranty coverage is fantastic

We'll see how long this one lasts. I'm not thrilled with Apple's customer service.

The ipod is the greatest invention by man, ever, no discussion.
