Where's the MMA buddays?
Watched the fights last night and it was the first card in a while where I felt like there was some value. I know there's no way to guarantee that fights will be that exciting, but holy shit, they were last night.
Jason Lambert had that fucking fight WON and got sloppy. I was so bummed out by that. The battling Brits were good, but Paul Kelly is exactly the kind of layaround ground and pounder that bore me to tears. I appreciate the ground game (I thought Gonzaga-Werdum were awesome on the ground) but I hate stiffs that have no other game than to hang out in guard and drop a couple of elbows. Plus, depending on who's fighting they'll stand that up much quicker than they did.
I was disappointed with Gonzaga. I thought he was trying to load up for one shot, and he looked a little lost.
The Marcus Davis KO was great, and man, did I love seeing Kendall Grove slumped down all gaga on the mat. I hate that prick. He never had any respect for his opponent after a fight, walks in with the stupid fucking mask. Now he can go back to boosting car stereos and leave us alone. Good riddance to bad garbage. Maybe he and Melvin Guillard can hang out together.
And BJ Penn ruled. I like Stevenson, but I was surprised to see how small he was next to BJ. The minute I saw them stand toe to toe I knew it was over. The cut didn't matter. BJ was going to win that fight for sure, and I hope he beats that dope Sherk. Sherk is the perfect example of the smothering ground and pounder I was talking about. I know, his stand up is better, but still, he's a bore and a cheat.
