Is there a way to test if my iMac G5 is running as it should?
Is there a way to defrag it?
I am not having any problems per se, but am curious.

I know of at least on mac defrager, but most think defragging a mac is unnecessary and will not greatly increase performance.

Never done benchmarks for my mac. There are some basic system stat programs in your utilities folder, and many more in depth programs from Apple's website.

But other than if it was acting a little funny, how would I know if it was performing at it's best?
I do occasionally have this thing where if I left it on for an hour or two and left it alone and then went back to it and tried to "wake it up", nothing would happen, but I hear the fan and know it is "on", but it is not responding no matter what I do. The only way I can find to get out of that is to unplug it from the wall and restart. Thats what is really prompting me to think it could use a test.
Other than that I have no other issues.

You can get Norton Utilities and it'll do all those things for you.

If I start having and chronic problems with any computer, Mac or PC, I will eventually do a fresh install of the OS. It helps if you have an external hard drive. Tabula rasa that bitch.
