We are talking about one of the nicest, most grounded guys in sports, a guy who always struck me as a bit eccentric or perhaps intensely introspective, but in a good way, not the Terrell Owens way.
Turns out, there may have been more to the many faces of Herschel Walker than we realized. There actually may have been more Herschel Walker faces.
“That’s all news to me,” former Georgia coach Vince Dooley said in Friday editions of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “All I know is whatever personality he had when he had the football was the one I liked.”
Walker’s been an interesting guy from the start. Several years ago, he talked about being a natural poet. He felt compelled to write, but he couldn’t understand why he did it after he had struggled so much with English in school.
