Got into my first ever hockey fight last night

I've only been playing for about three years now, so I've not had much opportunity to get my nose dirty, but.....

We were playing in a non-check league against a bunch of 18 year old brats who had all obviously been playing since four or five. This speedy little fucker takes it wide around my defensive partner at our blue line, then tries to cut it back into the middle. Soon as he clears my partner, I dropped my shoulder into his chest/ chin and sent him flying across the ice. I had two guys on me immediately. Turned out to be more of a wrestling match, really, as just about every player on the ice jumped onto the pile. Tons O fun.

Best part is the two guys who jumped on me got tossed with five minutes plus games and I ended up with only a two minute checking penalty- we had a three minute advantage when all was said and done. And the little fucker tried the same thing again in the third period, but when he saw me coming again, he decided to take it behind the net. Good choice.

Anyone got any good hockey fight stories to share?

When I was in college I sent away for a video of hockey fights, and we used to get high and watch them.

Hockey's the best. I wish I knew how to play.

My sophomore year at USC we had a street hockey club that played other schools in the area. One night we went out to play UC San Bernardino. All night long this one guy was cross checking me so I finally had enough and dropped my stick and spun around, not really knowing what to expect. All of a sudden this guy pops me right in the kisser. It didn't really hurt but I was shocked. My teammates all ran over to check on my teeth (which were all there) as the guy who hit me went running off and left the building.

Later that night we were at a party hosted by the San Bernrdino club and everyone was coming up to me and saying "Wow, you were that guy who got hit." Turned out everyone, even his teammates, hated the guy.

Never had to drop them myself, but have been in the mix a bunch of times. They are all about the same.

How the hell did I miss this thread?! I have a ton, in fact my team was in a nice brawl last week. Sooo many stories and they do all end in :drunk: as you stated. Just not with the opponent if you meant that.

We have one at least where a guy takes a baseball swing with his stick at me and I grab it in the air and head butt him in the face. That one is a classic. Lots of blood. And trust me, he deserved it. He actually broke my teammate's wrist who happened to be a surgeon from HUMC with his euro trash stickwork. He knew I was coming and he took that cheap shot so I said fuck it and led with the head. My thumb took a beating on the stick grab on the way in though. Not enough to slow down my punches though. Funny thing is, the refs understood and I didn't even get suspended. Just tossed and at that point they had to.

Yeah, I spent the first 2 1/2 playing against guys my age, who have jobs to go to in the am- the kind of jobs where a black eye or fat lip sticks out. It wasn't until the past six months that I jumped into an 18 and over league. It's a different game playing against a bunch of 18-22 year olds. I'm at the point now where I drill the first guy to cut into the middle in front of me, take my 2 minutes and hope that the message sets in on the other bench.

No, but he makes plenty of sense. Believe it or not I only get into shit when it's absolutely necessarry. In fact, through 13 games this season I only have 2 minutes of penalties, and it's for tripping. Even though the game just over a week ago got called toward the end and they just didn't hand out penalties. That one, just about everyone would have go at least a 5 for fighting as it looked like a scene in Slapshot. Next time I'm stripping!
