There is so much to do in vegas no need to tell you just get there and you will figure it out. s for the drive, you are not going to do 500+ miles in 5 1/2 hours. Its all freeway but there are parts that are winding and narrow, road traps and dangerous. Some of the most fatal accidents are on trips from CA to LV. Its dark as hell too. Be careful and good luck.

Hey pat, keep your eye on those road conditions if you're driving, cause you're gonna go over the sierras at some point.
Vegas is fun if you like drinking and gambling I guess. I was there for 3 days and had a good time, but any longer and I would've turned homocidal.
The second day, I watched "American Wedding" in my friends hotel room while my then girlfriend sat in the shower all day, puking, and finally got off her ass and found a wedding chapel. We got married at 12:05 AM Nov. 1, but the fat creepy elvis allowed it to be marked as Halloween on our license or whatever that thing is called.

Other than the casinos, shows, and restaurants, NY-NY has the rollercoaster, the Hilton still has Star Trek:The Experience. You can rent Harley's for $125 a day at LV Harley and cruise the strip. And you can't beat the people watching where ever you decide to go. You will see the weirdest looking people you've ever seen and the hottest women.
You've got Red Rock Canyon (on 159 - west of the city) if you want to be outside for awhile. There's tons of golf courses (I recommend the little Callaway pitch 'n putt right on the strip, down by the airport - cheap and fast play, it has a little clubhouse with lot's of beer and good samiches).
Hoover Dam is a short ride east and worth a look, Once you're there you can check out Lake Mead for boating, fishing, and swimming.
Have a great trip! You can't have a bad time in Vegas! Remember -- always bet on black!
