do they have to be action heroes? or is it more like top 10 most bad ass? Like could you include say Darth Vader on the list or is it more Hero in the sense of Bruce Willis in Die Hard?

What the hell? There's only a certain handful of actors who fit into the genre of action hero.
What you should have done was go by character, not by actor. There's a distinct difference in action hero between John Kimball and The T-800 in T2, even though they are played by the same actor.
That being said, here's my top 10:
10) Strider/Aragorn, LOTR Trilogy
9) Snake Plissken, Escape from New York
8) John McClain, Die Hard Quadrilogy
7) (tie) Chris Adams and Vin, The Magnificent Seven
6) T-800, Terminator 2
5) James Bond, specifically played by Connery.
4) The Man With No Name, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
3) Han Solo, Star Wars Trilogy
2) Kambei Shimada (See what I meant?)
1) Indiana Jones.

Yep I thought of doing series, but that would be too easy. Yes, I know Terminator, Konnan and stuff like that. But this puts a tad more thought like Wesley Snipes has a lot of movies that would rank him higher. If you want to put a Dart Vader as a bad ass then put him in. Have fun. I myself would not put Jason on the list but whatever you feel.

I'd have " Mad " Max Rockatansky on my list.

If Kung Fu/Hong Kong flicks are eligible, I may have a 100% asian list.
Bruce Lee
Jet Li
Donnie Yen
Jackie Chan (Drunken Master is the shit)
Beat Takeshi
Michelle Yeoh
and Stephen Chow among others
My favorite is probably Chow Yun Fat. He's done the martial arts thing in Crouching Tiger and the shoot 'em Hard Boiled and The Killer (2 of my favorites ever).

she's my #10, I don't get how people don't like that movie? I guess I like it cause I was such a fan of the 60'/70's martial arts and samurai movies, so all the small details made me happy. None made me happier than Sonny Chiba though, that sequence was one of the best of the 2 films.

1) I missed that. Oops.
2) I honestly don't know why The KB movies fly so far under the radar. Everything is top notch. The acting, sets, dialog, pace, music, tone, STORY... I mean... it's all there. Maybe it'll have some kinda rebirth. Sorta like Star Trek did. All I know is, I enjoy it every time I see it. And that includes the TBS airings!!
