i cant speak for perry but i'm guessing because they were both enormous icons for genre of alternative music and culture, then both died tradigically very young.

but as far as my choice goes it would have to be sid. my reasons most likely pure sentimental. i still have an attachment from listening to the sex pistols and being enamored with them through my teens in the eighties.

i was watching some jerk off on cnn saying kurt and courtney were the 90s sid and nancy. and sid played bass for the pist0ls. he did have short lived solo career where he sang.

he was an awesome lyricist. He
spoke from the heart

it really depends on how you evaluate. who is the bigger talent? obviously kurt. who was more of a rock star? got to go with sid. the comparison between these two is sort of an odd one... the only real similarity (as was mentioned) is that they each had overbearing bleach blonde junkies fucking up their lives even more than they already were.

but of course, i do have a sid vicious poster on my cubicle wall (and no kurt), so my vote is with sid

kurt gobang was a bleach blonde also.
I think he was more clever than talented.(guitar wise) He knew the basics, took what he knew, and made incredible music.
his true talent was his lyric writing-
FYI- kurt also was a drummer before playing guitar.
I still think someone killed em.

But c'mon, Kurt was just way more talented. Sid's truly left a lasting impression, sure, but Kurt's legacy will be far richer as time goes by.

Nobody took Nirvana serious until Grohl joined the band.
