Has anyone here tried this diet/body detoxification?

I did it once and lasted over 6 days and only mistakenly broke it.

Its tough the first 2 days, i will admit that, and if you are working out you should avoid this but it was really good for me and i lost 13 pounds in the 6 days after doing it.

You eat no food instead you drink a mixture of: Water, Maple Syrup, Lemon/Limes and Cayenne Pepper

the recipe is: 8 oz of water, 2 tbsp of syrup, a quarter of either lemon or lime and a splash of cayenne pepper (cayenne loosens the mucus membranes)

It sounds wacky but if you read more on it, its not a bad thing

If anyone is interested in doing this we should do it as a group

So what do you say is anyone up for it?

After listening to El Jefe's experiences with Master Cleanser (on The Hideout about 3 years ago), I wouldn't touch it.

I haven't heard of the master cleanse method, but I do want to try Luke Cummo's method (minus the urine drinking) I believe its called the Lifefood Nutritional Diet and mostly focused around Jubb’s Longevity in NYC

I got to day 3 when a really good friend surprised me with a visit. I couldn't be a bitch and not drink because I was on the "Master Cleanse" so I broke the thing. The first two days were rough but I felt like a million bucks that 3rd day.

I might be down to try it again in the future.

Robin Quivers used this diet. Guess it worked for her.

is there anywhere that I could find anymore information on this? Is it an 'approved' method of losing weight? I'll google it when I'm not so busy at work.

I might have to go ahead and jump on this one.

According to Dr. Drew (who actually IS a board certified physician when he's not appearing on reality tv shows) there is nothing UNIQUELY healthful about the master cleansers specific blend of ingredients.
Water is water. It supports life and biological funtions. And... it's kinda filling.
Sugar is calories. We need carbs & calories ESPECIALLY during a fasting phase.
The Pepper (I think it's called capsacian or something like that) is a mild appetite suppressant.

The must-use-these-exact-amounts-or-it-wont-work aspect of the Master Cleanse program is equivalent to Dumbos magic feather.

There is a better thing you can do. You take a pill once a day for 5 days, and follow a certain diet which really isnt bad. It just cuts out the things that slow your body down or makes it hold water and things like salts. Then the 6th day it has a drink and then by the morning of the 7th day everything is clean

The Master Cleanse isn't supposed to be a quick fix of any kind. In fact its not even meant for weight loss. The original intent of the cleanse is to detox and clean out your system, not drop weight.

If you're interested in learning more about it just pop in to a Whole Foods or any health food store, they usually have the book (I think it'll run you about 10 bucks max).

I like the idea of detoxification, but what the hell are these ambiguous toxins? And why is maple syrup and lemon juice good for this purpose.

How do I know specific toxins like pesticides or cellular junk are being mobilized and flushed from my system?

I'm sure there is an effect from this concoction. You are being deprived of pretty much all nutrients (save water, carbohydrates, and some vitamin C) which has gotta being doing something to you. Second, fasting can induce your body into catabolism of other organs, likely muscle. And, for better or worse in terms of the cleanse, levels of intestinal flora and mucous lining deteriorate from all of the lemon juice and salt water mixes.

I don't know if I will try this one, but it poses some cause for concern.

Screw the naysayers and me. I'm bored, I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

I don't know if I'm up for it but lately I've been wondering about some type of "cleanse". It seems like a good way to start off a healthier lifestyle. I for one eat SO much crap I bet it would feel like torture but the feeling after it's over just might be worth it.

I never know what source to trust when researching this type of thing. You can literally find some type of information on either side to support what you think.

Good luck KO!

Does the cayenne pepper burn your ass or is it hot to drink? I worry about it hurting my tush. But I'd love to drop some pounds. Tell me more and be truthful.

I don't know much about the Master Cleanse, but I've been on the Shangra La Diet for about 2 months and lost around 10 pounds.

Okay, I searched on my own and saw this guy on Youtube. He seems like he does well on i, but I did notice as the days went on that his speech speeded up, which leads me to believe there is some mental effects. Just thought Id share:
