One of the best supplements you can take. They are extremely healthy and have shown in studies to improve the heart and brain activity. I take 2 fish oils with breakfast and two with dinner everyday. Do any of you take them? I highly suggest using them.

If you eat fishes like tuna, salmon and most shellfish, however, you may not need a supplement. Those fishes are higher in Omega 3's than others.

Not everybody is a fish eater, but if you are an egg-eater you might want to buy Omega-3 eggs (most grocery stores will have their own store brand) . . . the hens are fed a diet high in Omega 3's and this changes the composition of the yolks.

Gonzo already mentioned flaxseed, which can be tough to stomach (it makes you poop) but if you're interested in getting it into your diet without having to crunch it, try Alton Brown's Brown Rice Crispy Bars (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_31334,00.html) . . . it might help.

Lastly, there are always supplements. (I have trouble remembering to take them myself, so I am trying to improve my diet so I don't have to take any . . . it will be challenging.)

I haven't taken the fish oil capsules yet, but I drink three glasses of Silk Plus Omege-3 a day in my protein shakes.

If you want some insanely high fiber ceral that's loaded with flax seeds, try Uncle Sam. I prefer Hemp+ granola though with hemp seeds and flax seeds. Tasty, tasty stuff, especially with some fruit and (soy)milk.

The thing with flax seeds is that you gotta grind them up. If you eat them whole, they could pass right through your system undigested. Personally, I grind up a couple of tablespoons, spoon it into juice or even lemonade and slam it. I have to slam it cause the grittiness skeeves me out. Another thing to remember is flax seeds do have a very high fat content, it is good fat, but the lable may scare you.

you're correct. obviously too much of anything is never a good thing, so if you do eat a lot of fish you don't have to take fish oils as a supplement. however, most people I know aren't extensive fish eaters. I love fish, but i hardly consume it so these oils are a terrific substitute.

I took fish oil capsules for two days a couple months ago and my chest felt odd, so I stopped. It scared me.

The Wall Street Journal opines

Bottom line: Demonstrated good effects with high doses, not so sure about smaller doses but no real down side to taking them. And you probably can't get enough omega - 3s to match the high doses by just eating fish - unless you eat a lot of fish.

In addition to the multi-vitamins I've been taking, I'm taking these vitamins called Complete Omega 3 6 9, and they are excellent. I have psoriasis and I've seen my skin improving very much, and my mood so much better than it was. From what I've read it has a mood stabilizer in the properties and I'm certain that is really helping me. At work it is helping me big time in making rational decisions and I can see the direct results. I had about 10 different serious things happening at once today and I had to deal with them all without losing my cool. In the past I would have lost it, and I came close, but I did it and I kept my emotions in check.
