OK, this came up at work.

There was a toy I had as a kid that I cannot remember the name of and can't really remember a concrete description of to search it on the net.

It's probably from the 70's but I had one in the 80's.

You got different sized plastic rings with little gear teeth on the inside and outside of the rings. You would then tack these rings to a piece of paper. Next you would take one of several different little circles with gear teeth on the outside and put it on the inside or outside of the tacked plastic ring on the paper. Each small gear had several holes in it where you would place a pen, then move the gear around the ring as you wrote on the paper. It would leave you with several crazy designs.

Does anyone remember the name of this product so I can Google it for pic?

Nice call Hottub! I had one of those too, Moe. I might as well still have one now with all the doodling I do in meetings. I swear, I just carry around a notebook for show. Here I am! Off to take notes! Keep your hand-out, I'm gonna take notes verbatim!

I was too advanced for Spirograph. I was too busy taking art tests from my dad's matchbook covers. I could draw a mean pirate. There was also a turtle, and I can't remember what the other two pictures were.

Yeah, it was SPIROGRAPH but.... I think they came out with a "better" one a few years later.

Kinda like the game PERFECTION and then there was SUPERFECTION.
After SIMON became popular there was SUPER SIMON.

I don't remember what the pimped out SPIROGRAPH was called but, it definitely had a name of it's own. They didn't just plop a "super" in front of it.

Somebody should be posting a photo of SUPER SPIROGRAPH in 3...... 2......

It was. I don't remember Kenner's jingle, it may have been similar but the only one I remember is the Mennen one too.

Thanks for the pic, I remembered the name of it on lunch but you all had already come up with it.

I vaguely remember this toy. I think my sister had one... or my grandma, for the kids.... or something.

Old school toys (and cartoons) were the best.

I hate growing up. I wish I was Peter Pan.

I never had a Spirograph and had to wallow in jealousy as the smartass girls who lived a few doors down showed off their cool drawings (or as Ron would say, "drawlings") and my sister would come home with pics I couldn't match which probably caused me to play some cruel trick or another on her........

I had the leftover remnants of an older sibling's Spirograph. I preferred my Spin Art thing a ma jig.

Why would you need a pencil sharpener or shapener as you put it?
It came with colored pens.

There are decent online versions of Spirograph out there. The best I have found is on the PSU website.

This one includes settings for different designs and a highly customizable design set. I first found this at work and promptly lost a whole day of productivity...
