Welcome to my world, Game. Kids don't go to sleep until 8. The earliest I ever get to the gym is 8:30. I don't even bother trying to sleep until 12.

that being said- good workout last night- getting more comfortable with the new weight. Back down to 188- guess I drank less water yesterday.

I'm finally getting back on the bike today after a week off. My quads were sore as hell because the bike combined with other leg exercises were overworking me a bit. So now I'm gonna start focusing on the bike to sweat off some weight and then go for some upper body stuff. Especially because my best friend is graduating college and coming back soon, so he'll be around to teach me the ropes of the world of the actual gym.

AND AAAAAAWAAAAAAYYYYAYAYAYAYAYYYY WE GO!

ive gained so much weight, im scared to go on the scale. but im done with being a chunk now and today i did 15 mins on my elliptical at home and that fucking killed me. i am wayyyyy out of shape. i used to run and do spinning. i have to get up to speed. mini-goal is 7 pounds off by new years eve.

WOW 26 lbs in a month! That's amazing. It took me about 3-4 months to lose about 40. You go any further, and nothing will fit. Which is kinda cool. Very impressive!

I spent Saturday in NYC with a buddy and we did some walking. I walked from Penn Station to Grand Central Terminal to meet up with her (1 mile), then we took the subway down to the Union Square Holiday Market to browse (must've circled the thing 5 or 7 times) and then did about half of the 2-mile Holiday Windows route I printed from About.com ... and then headed back to Grand Central to get my friend safely onto her train home. (And I walked back to Penn from 33rd Street & Park Avenue.)

So, let me do the mileage ...

1st Leg (NY Penn to Grand Central) : 1 mile
2nd Leg (Circling Union Square Park for the Holiday Market): 0.31 miles (times about 4 times = 1.24 miles)
3rnd Leg (Holiday Windows & Rockefeller Center and back to GCT): 1.8 miles
4th Leg (33rd Street & Park Ave to NY Penn): 0.51 miles

Grand total: 4.55 miles

And I am only sore because I had to stand on the train into the city and again on the way home.

The other thing I like to do to bust up the routine is every couple of months switch to dumbells for the bench and incline. I usually have to drop a bit of weight and build back up, but once you go back to the bar, you've picked up more weight than you'd have thought.

Bumped the weights on the incline press last night- feeling it in the shoulders this am.

New strategy: I'm dumping the workout and going on a pizza and beer diet. I'll get up there in no time. Hell, I can eat 4 lbs of pizza. Not to mention 12 oz./ beer- it's over. Tonight. Still counts, right?

Don't knock yourself- depending on how much focus you put into it, you can burn a lot of calories hating people. Does take quite a bit of dedication, though.

Never too late. Just throw them down the steps and lock the door. Let them fend for themselves.

My little man (well, hers) won't be spending all of his time down here, of course, but this place is fucking filthy, and I want it nice and clean for when we do bring him down to play. I'm gonna keep all of his toys here and everything, and I have a bunch of my old toys for him as well. I'm making good progress.

I think I will take a little time out from cleaning up today though for a bit of a workout, though.

I've been all over the place for the past week like a madman, but I haven't really had much chance to do any actual working out. But I'm still down at an even 198. Good for me. After everything gets done and I've fixed everything up, the weight loss and muscle gain begins.

Back after 2 week vaca. Got to the gym a few times over the break- think I managed to keep more of my workouts than I skipped, but it was close. Back on schedule starting tonight. Up to 192, but it isn't good weight gain- prob be back to 188 or so by Friday.

Good workout on Monday- back at it tonight.

Anyone ever have shoulder issues? The incline press is jacking my shoulder up- inflamed bursa sac or rotator cuff issue- I don't know. I switched to a closer grip, which took the pressure off the joint and onto the triceps- seems to feel better, but I don't know if I should get it checked out yet, or wait for a bit to see the pain goes away by itself.

I did the same thing- started at 195 back in Oct 07, dropped down to 175 fairly quickly and am now back up to 194, but it is a whole different 194 this time.

It was much tougher to put weight on the right way than it was to take it off.

This neck injury I've had for years now finally feels like it's getting better. I've been stretching and doing PT for it for about 8 months now - along with stim therapy and occasional muscle relaxers - been brutal but I feel like it's going to be time to start hitting the weights and whatever else heavy soon.

Do you supplement at all? I find that after I hit it hard for a couple of days, I viciously crave red meat- clearly my body is looking for protein. Unfortunately, I am trying to watch my cholesterol, so red meat is a rarity for me. I looked into those protein shakes, but it is all derived from milk protein and very high in cholesterol. Any experience with this/ suggestions?

just a multi-vitamin in the morning, 2 Omega-3 Fish Oils with breakfast and 2 with dinner. So i take 5 pills a day, 6-7 days a week.

I dont really get those cravings because I have some form of protein in my foods at least once a day. obviously every once in a while i crave a massive steak or burger like every man but its nothing i would consider overbearing.

peanut butter is an excellent alternative, so are things like almonds and cashews. even though they are high in carbs they're good carbs, so feel free to eat away and not feel guilty (obviously dont overindulge).

oh yea, and i just got back from the gym

they aren't kiding when they say no heavy lifting after giving blood- got through it, but had no energy, almost dropped the bar on my chest and got really dizzy 3/4 of the way through my routine.

Intense ultimate frisbee on Saturday. I love it because it saves my legs, I get just as tired and do a ton of running but not on pavement and there are breaks in the sprinting.

4.75 miles today in 33 minutes. I'm ecstatic with that. My legs feel great, finally getting them back. Took longer than ever this season. I'm getting old.

Well that run just kicked my ass. Legs feel fine but I was so hot and cramped up a little.

I gotta get reacclimated as it gets warmer. I used to running in the cold and not having to worry about hydration that much. This will be a cool day in a couple months but now feels really hot.

Starting to do back to back days now that my legs feel healthy.

great workout last night- swapped in a couple of new exercises. Bumped the weight on a couple- cut the reps, but felt great, so I was able to build back up to normal reps. Great workout


Hockey tonight- last game of the season against the #1 team. I fwe win, we play a team we match up pretty good with in the first round. If we lose, we pull a team that beat us earlier in the season. Let's hope the #1 team doesn't take the game too seriously.

ONe of my best friends talked me into going to her gym this past Sunday. Holy Shit...I am so out of shape! I started profusely sweating into 5 minutes onto the stair stepper. Boy was I embarrassed. The weight machines went better. I went again yesterday with her for more stair stepping and then joined her in an arms class.

I was the fattest one in the arms class, but I didn't think I did half bad. There was a younger girl about 17-19 yrs old, that looked like she was in shape and she seemed to be having difficulties.

I am hoping every day gets better. Getting in shape brings a whole new happiness to my life...hanging out with my best girl friend is a bonus.

my goal is to be a sexy, hot, bitch within the next year!

i work out hard monday through friday, though the past two weeks ive been slacking on the friday part, then i rest on the weekend. i do about 45 minutes of lifting and an hour of running per day. i change my lifting routine every other day but i always run the same amount every day (roughly 6 miles).

and i just got back tonight. i usually love momdays but doing this on a holiday tonight sucked balls.

ok, lost 25 but totally stopped going to the gym and doing my yoga after the honeymoon. i loved how i felt when i was working out regularly. i gave myself a long enough of a break, and i'll be damned if i gain everything back, so i'm starting up again. today it's just an hour of yoga, and a 30 minute walk, but i fucked my knee up a couple of days ago and dont want to push it. i cant wait to go running along the path in bay ridge this weekend!

I need a good strength training regime I have the cardio thing down pretty good, I have a bad back and one of the things that I have been told to do to elevate the problem is drop some weight which I have, lost about 12 pounds in about 4-5 weeks

Any advice would be great

Got my last run in before my next 5k which is Saturday. I really really want 2230/23. I was slightly disappointed with the run I had last month. I will rest my legs and see if its better.

And I also lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks because I got in a good eating routine. With the running, I lost weight easy when I diet. But i also gain it just as easily when I do neither.

Also I am incorporating a strength routine from Crossfit which is a super intense all body
exercises.

The swim is by far the worst. It's dark and all the people around you, its panic inducing honestly. Not to discourage you, but that's just how I felt so be ready for it.

I did it in April so it was also cold water which you won't have to deal with. Keep us posted

I will, I took a lesson at the Y tonight to help me get my breathing down. I got it but i also realized that a half mile in the water is fucking far. i guess thats the point. I'm doing a 5k trail run next week on Staten Island, should be fun i'm gonna go balls out and see what happens.

After almost a month off- might as well have been a year. Lost 20 pounds on the bench, was doing 6-8 rep sets when I used to do 10-12. Tough workout.

Going back to the rainy days workout schedule in the hopes of pullling it back together quickly. It can only get better from here.
