I decided to give Firefox a try.

After downloading the latest version and installing it with the default options. It opens up and looks like this (the website is google)

A is the page window, C is where the tabs are listed, B is a resize bar where i can resize the webpage window left and right but not up and down.

I have looked at all of the options and can't see anything that is set wrong , but obviously I have missed something.

As you can see from the labeling on the picture above, I am not the most tech savey user around.

I'm not sure what is going on there...

Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling?

Is that the 3.0 beta? If so, you may want to uninstall it and go with the 2.x version. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches.

You can get it here... http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-2.0.0.11&os=win&lang=en-US

It is version Firefox 2.0.0.11

I forgot to mention, I am running windows xp with sp2.

When I went to start up firefox to check out the version, I noticed in my start menu an option to start it up, there is an option to "start firefox in safe mode" . I did that and it seems to work ok, so I'll do some checking into that. Apparently one of the plug-ins or settings is causing a problem.
