so the story picks up with Anthony 'A.J.' Soprano, Jr.
the fam is dead
uncle jr authorized the hit
and the first season-the hook- is aj getting back for the murders of his father and mother, and maybe his sister(unless she wants to run jersey then she could be included also)
or maybe another scenario
but i find the above being the most watchable for the hook
the reluctant mob boss with a broken crew slowly coming to power and the dysfunction that he already had caring over
or maybe they are all dead except for the daughter and her rise to power through necessity(retribution(circa traffic)) and her PTSD combined with her constant moral issues in what shes done(instead of a phsyc she has a priest or something)
or your scenario
would you watch a sopranos spin off?

If AJ is involved, I'd rather watch a screen adaptation of this thread.

sounds like a continuation, not a spin-off. hell, a lot of people were suggesting tony would be killed at the start of the final season and it would be all about a struggle for power.
in the end would i watch it? if the show was well-made, why not? but that goes for any show, not just one with the sopranos tag.

If David Chase was in charge, I'd watch it. The other thing about The Sopranos was that Gandolfini was so absolutely perfect, it would be hard to find another actor to carry a new show anywhere near as well.
As to a series revolving around AJ, NO. The character, and the actor playing him, is horrible. I think the most likely scenario, after Chase rests up and has a few flops, is a prequel showing Johnny and Junior running things. Probably as a theatrical movie.
Last year I bought the entire series on DVD and watched 1 or 2 episodes at a time in order. The first three seasons were phenomenal, but after that whenever AJ, Meadow, Janice, or Carmella came on, I'd fast-forward through it.

I'd only watch a spin-off if it was about the life of Ralphie, prior to his head being removed from his body of course..

Well, the first Sopranos spin-off where Adriana was Joey from Friends' sister was unwatchable, so I'll say no, I won't watch.

I would have to at least give it a shot if it was David Chase product. But I am very pessimistic that it would keep my interest very long. Gandolfini was definitely the key to the intrigue to the show. Even though it's hard for us to let go of something that was so enjoyable for so long, it's just better to let it be where it is.

The only spin off of AJ that i would watch is if he spun off the road and died in a fiery car crash.

I have never seen The Sopranos. Upon learning this fact, people usually stop hanging out with me.

I would prefer seeing Janice being beaten to death.
