Is there a freeware program that lets you take an ISO file and lets you view and extract the contents without having to burn a disk?

i use this too. i can copy/burn most dvd's but some won't let me. if i remember correctly the error message was about disk size. the recent one i tried that failed was Hairspray from Blockbuster ( my neighbor lent it to me )

I use WinRAR or Nero's image mounting software. There are others that do the same thing (basically, give the file a drive letter). I also use a program called UltraISO to edit image files. You can add or remove files and burn them and lots of other stuff.

Um, why has no one mentioned Daemon Tools?
It pretty much the standard piece of software for this sort of thing.

It gives you a virtual cd rom drive so you can mount the image on your computer and Windows will act like you actually have a cd or dvd in a drive. It gets it's own drive letter and everything will work just like you actually burned it. You can browse the 'disc', you can install things off of it, you can run programs off of it, or if it's a movie you can watch it in whatever dvd software you use. It supports up to 5 (I think) different drive letters at the same time so if for some reason you wanted to load up 5 different cd images you can do so. It does a lot more than just ISO as well, pretty much every cd/dvd image format out there is supported by it.
