getting into comics

how does one get into comics?

what i mean is, if you arent already into one or a few, how do you go about picking one up and jumping in on a story that may have 100 previous issues to the one you are checking out..

Alot of titles lately have been numbering the parts of the storylines. You can pick up on alot of titles right at the begining of a story or after one has ended. Marvel books even have brief synopsises at the begining of each book. They will give you everything you'll need to know before you read the issue.

Don't bother reading monthly issues. Only read trades.

i got into comics through a friend, after seeing v for vandetta.

i've always read a lot, and i enjoyed the movie and a friend introduced me to bit torrents, so i read the story.

after that he suggested the new daredevil series, its only 150 or so comics, and i tore through most of those one night.

then i went on to preacher, walking dead, etc.

honestly you just have to find something that interests you, i like darker comics, you might like something goofy like the fantastic four or superman, you really wont know till you check em out.

but do yourself a favor and dont restrict yourself to the big names, some of the best comics are ones that aren't put out by marvel/dc

I got into comics (during Secret Wars I) from a friend. ge lent me the issues, and decided to start to pick up titles. then over time, i got a bunch of back issues so i could better understand what was going on.

So just jump in and pick up some back issues at your local comic shop.

Go to the comic book store and grab something that looks cool. Then look it up on Wiki to get the back story.
