After over 5 years - I finally got the red ring of death on my 360.

Not a bad run but i dont understand why gaming consoles have such a short life span?

Anyway, do I replace it or wait for the next generation?

You can get a cheap one now, next gen is at least a year away.

I'm on my 3rd fucking xbox. I have the original Elite one now and no issues for 3 years...

Pretty sure I'm on my 3rd. Two red rings of death, one broken tray.

I had RROD then broken tray. Broken tray was far more frustrating as sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't.

I'm on my second.

It really is a brilliant way to double profits. I can't believe they've gotten away with it.

Good deal from geeks.com

I know this is an old post but geeks.com frequently has good deals, I DO NOT recommend them at all.

I got 2 refurbed 360s from them that both failed within 20 minutes of using them.

How did they handle it?

I sent the first one back, they sent me a replacement, same problem. I had to throw a shitfit to get my money back from them directly and it took about 3 weeks.
