View Full Version : Question regarding Sirius satellite radio
My mother has XM radio mostly for the easy listening music and the Old Time Radio programs.
She is going to be moving into a retirement apartment that faces northeast. I checked the apartment out today and she will be unable to get any reception with the XM. (as i expected)
Would she be able to receive Sirius through a northeast facing window here in New England ?
edit - I finally managed to find some information about antenna placement on the Sirius website here (http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/CachedPage&c=FlexContent&cid=1180555415513) apparently in New England the home antenna needs to be aimed to the west or northwest.

at this point you might as well just flush the xm down the toilet...

idk, I do know XM's signal seems to be shittier lately...
I would assume that both sirius' satellites are in the southern region, that would make the most sense from a satellite standpoint.
Any way to mount a trucker style antenna outside on a roof or side with south facing access?

The Old Time Radio channel isn't available online, and besides, she is 76 years old and has no idea how to operate a computer.

Actually the Sirius satellites orbit from north to south over the middle of the United States.
Given the location of the apartment (2nd floor of a 12 story building) there would be no way of mounting an external antenna to help.

There could be an XM repeater near there so it won't matter if it Faces South. I know with mine my antenna is in an East Facing window and gets little Sat. Signal but full Terr. Repeater signal.

I was hoping that too. That is why I took her XM to the apartment when we checked it out. I set it up and received no signal at all.
