I started this one last year, might as well continue the tradition...

Even though the best part about Christmas is giving, one of the other good parts is receiving.

So that being said...

I gave Liz new pajamas, a bunch of CDs, including ACDC, Metallica, and the Sweeney Todd broadway soundtrack, Harry Potter DVD, a cast iron skillet with cover (which she didn't ask for but posted about on RF.net - see kids, post-stalking does pay off!

Her big present, which was Missy-recommended, was a Nintendo DS plus a bunch of games.

I got a lot of cool stuff, including some digital photography books, Arrested Development on DVD, Rescue me on DVD, and this...

How do I know if it's the PC version?

i don't have the game, but it should list requirements on the box. they're not compatible across platforms, so if it says ps3, don't open it. it should probably list the memory, video card, etc that you need on one of the small sides in a white box.

edit: just saw your edit. :(

deep down inside I was hoping my mother would get me tix to the Pats/Giants this Saturday. sadly, she told me tonight that she was thinking of getting me tix but she couldn't figure out what game i would want to see since I live in florida and none of my teams are playing down there until april at the earliest. she got me devils/rangers tix last year and i told her they were the best gift she got me. i give her credit for trying, but damn those tickets would have been nice.

I don't know if this helps, but I just heard on the local sports talk station (WFAN) that Giant fans are unloading those seats on Stubhub and EBAY at a record clip. They know Pats fans want to see their team make history, and a guy from Stubhub said its one the busiest events they've ever sold. Seats are going for as much as 15 grand each, but I just looked and there are seats available for $100-$200 bucks a piece.

I am not close with my family. I didn't talk to anyone in my family for many years.
My Mom called me this afternoon and invited me over for dinner. Dad... Brother.. Grandma... the whole fam.

No gifts were exchanged but, we all just sat around and talked for many many hours. Good times. Not a hint of tension.

Right before I left, my dad handed me a DVD that he (god bless 'em) edited himself. It's a 4 hour compilation of SNL bloopers, out-takes, rehearsals, & other rare stuff. He KNOWS that I'm an SNL superfan. He knows that I live for that show. He used to take me to that studio all the time back in the 80ies. I loved going to work with him. Going to SNL for me & my Dad was probably like when you guys would throw the ball around in the backyard with your fathers. Ya know... special memories.

It didn't cost him a dime but, it definitely must have cost him many many hours in the NBC vaults and then at his computer.

He said, "I've been wanting to give this to you for a loooonng time."

Seriously; best present I ever got.

This just really made me smile

I am not close with my family. I didn't talk to anyone in my family for many years.

I got a new computer and a sizable check. But my Dad is still very sick, and what I really wanted was for him to be feeling better. So overall a pretty down holiday for me. I'm at least glad we got a chance to all spend some time together.

Sorry to be a drag.

That is what the holidays are about.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't get much cause I don't ask for much.

My wife gave me:
A Steve Martin book
A day-by-day calendar for my desk
Hot Chocolate mixes
A VCR for the TV in my office
A donation to Doctors without Border in my name

You sound like a bunch of spoiled 8 year olds!

Why are there no stories of helping the less fortunate?
Shame on all of you for showing off with your consumer glut!

I spent my Christmas bringing meals to Aids patients in the village then getting wasted at my favorite bar!

My life sucks.

I used this website (http://www.cardavenue.com/) last year for a Banana Republic Gift Card that I got...and I exchanged it with another person for the same amount in a GAP card.

It cost about 3 dollars in fees to use the site...But it worked like a charm and I got what I really wanted.

As an ex-employee of the majestic store number 838 i can tell you that with new policies, no, no you cannot.

The only time you get cash back is if you paid 1.) With cash or 2.) With a debit card.

One of my kids got a $50 one and also hates Old Navy. However, he found a pretty kick ass coat there. It's some wacky new type that is very warm, but isn't at all heavy. He picked it, because the price tag said it was $40 and figured that would almost wipe out the card. When he brought it to the register, it turned out it was only $20. He loves it. I want one, too.

A wooden Samurai Sword. This might be the coolest gift I have ever received that I don't know what to do with. The only practical application is home defense.
