i recently put together a new desktop computer

2g ram, nvidia video card, dual 22inch monitors etc.. etc..

i play 360 so its rare that i will game on the cpu but i wanted to have the card incase i wanted to..

im going back to school and will be buying a laptop computer so i dont have to wait at the library for one to become available..

i recently found out im getting a grand back from school cause i somehow over paid the year before.

should i keep the cash and buy a cheaper laptop with the capabilites of regualr stuff: word, internet, powerpoint etc...

or get like an XPS or Alienware laptop to play games on while i have downtime at school..

just wondering if laptops are decent to game on and if its worth it.

id really like to game more on a CPU but xbox ease of playing keeps me back..

Depends if you want to spend the money. Last year I got a 17" T7200 dual core with 2G ram and mobile 7600GT last year and it cost me over 2 g's. (Work paid for it) That video card was worth over 500 of the price of the LT, the same card in a PC wouldn't even cost 100$. You defiantly pay a huge premium. I can play orange box No problem, Supreme commander maxed out, NHL08 maxed out but a newer game like CRYSIS would be unplayable. Plus the LT gets unbearably hot after an hour. Depends how bad you want it. I barely use mine and stick with my 360.

The new LT's come with 7900GT with 512 Vram or 8700GT's for well over 2G's.

i think i'd play the laptop more if it was my only unit to game on..

i have my desktop with my nvidia GFORCE 8500gt, and i think xbox's graphics are better.. but i've only played warcraft. halflife 2 and battlefield 2 on my cpu..

if the laptop was my only gaming unit, then i think i'll sped 1500-2gs on.
but i love my 360 and my desktop is great for games if i need to play..

you brough up a good point with it getting hot, i remember my old laptop burning my legs while i sat there and browsed the net. i couldnt imagine gaming for 30-hr..

There are plenty of really good laptop coolers around. Cooler Master I believe makes one. Never had a problem with that company.

Overall, a gaming laptop is nice if that's your only PC. But if you got a beastly or decent tower, a general laptop for web surfing will do you just fine. No need to get a gaming laptop at that point.

just get a laptop with a good video imput and a big screen and then you dont have to get rid of your xbox for gaming

the laptop will only end up dissapointing you in the not to distant future anyway
dont bother
