I think I've heard of them editing rap lyrics ( too many f-bombs ) during certain hours of the day but I never thought they'd edit what appears to be non-foul language.

The other day they're playing Billy Idol's Eyes Without A Face on Sirius and they get to like the last verse and skip completely over a whole line.

They go from :

When you hear the music you make a dip
Into someone else's pocket then make a slip.
Steal a car and go to Las Vegas oh, the gigolo pool.

To :

I'm on a bus on a psychedelic trip
Reading murder books tryin' to stay hip.
I'm thinkin' of you you're out there so

They skipped this part :

Hanging out by the state line,
Turning holy water into wine
Drinkin' it down, oh

I thought that was wierd.

The only reason I would think they'd edit that part is maybe it could in some way be considered offensive to religious folks but I think that's a huge stretch.

It might just be a shorter version of the song

so I am going to have to deal with shortened Billy Idol songs after the merger...I won't stand for this.

Actually when looking for the lyrics ( which apparently I've been getting wrong all these years ) it does appear that they have a version exluding that line and I also saw another which excluded that entire last part.

Song's like 3 minutes long in total why the hell would they need to shorten it by 5 seconds ?

On a semi-related point I was watching Caddyshack this morning on cable and there were a bunch of lines I had never heard before.

Nothing the main charatcers say, or any of the major dialog, but more secondary comments mentioned in the background.

I'm guessing maybe when they edit for TV, which is where I see it most of the time, they trim some of that non-essential dialog.

Again they were only minor lines but in the 100 times I've seen the movie I don't recall them.

There's two versions of the song. The version with the extra lines is the 7" version. I don't know what the version you heard is called, the 6" version maybe?

When Fast Times first started showing up on televsion, I'm almost sure there was a scene with Arnold was actually working at Bronco burger.
