I stopped at McDonald's real quick cause I was that hungry. I was lookin at the menu and I noticed on the dolalr menu that a cheeseburger was 1.00 and a double cheeseburger was also on there, 1.00
Am I missing something?

The double is probably a temporary promotional price.

because the double cheeseburger is at the promotional $1 Menu price
some stores (esp. in Staten Island) charge $1.49 for the double cheeseburger
The regular cheeseburger is .99 all the time on their regular menu
Spend $3 more ya cheap fuck and go to FIVEGUYS

Around here the double cheese has been $1 for at least 3 years, but maybe longer. I think the regular cheeseburger is $.89.
I don't know if the Value Menu counts as a promotion anymore. It has had a stable menu for several years and has virtually the same items wherever you go. I'm not saying it isn't retarded, but the value pricing is pretty nice.

If McDonalds pricing stops making sense ... how are we to understand anything anymore?

It was a 'special promotion'.
The patties were getting freezer burnt and they needed to clear 'em out.

Because with the double cheesburger, you get shorted one 'e'.

The double cheeseburgers sit around longer. That's why they sell them for the same price. Whenever I'm desperate enough to order one, I always ask for it with no onions. That way, they make a fresh one for you.

They sit around longer, because they cook them in big batches. The singles pretty much get cooked as they're sold.
