solve x - 2/3 > 5/6
It's been a long time since I've been in a math class, but I'll give this a shot
2/3 = 4/6, so
x - 4/6 > 5/6
subtract 4/6 from each side, therefore
x > 1/6

solve -5x - 2 less then or equal to -14 + 2x
I'll try this as well
add 2 to each side to get rid of the 2 on the left, therefore
-5X less than or equal to -12 + 2x
subtract 2X from each side to get rid of the 2X on the right
-7x less than or equal to -12
knock out the negatives on each side because you can
7x less than or equal to 12
divide both sides by 7
x less or equal to 7/12

no time to look at this, but dividing by a negative (ie, knocking out negatives) would flip the inequality. for example, -7 < -5, but 7 > 5. ok, i lied and looked at it, everything else seems good, just reverse the inequality.

Good point. I forgot about that. I was thinking in terms of both sides of the equation being separated by an "equals" sign.
