it used to be a cool band (not that i was around at that time). however, after the plane crash, ronnie van zant's youngest brother became the lead of the band.
the point i'm trying to make is that after he started, things (musically) went down hill, they even let some pop duo in the 80's do a really crappy remake of freebird.

The original Lynyrd Skynyrd was my first musical obsession, and one of the coolest bands ever! That the current line-up has the audacity to go by the same name is inexcusable, and Ronnie VanZandt's little brother should be ashamed of himself. He can't shine Ronnie's shoes.

Mine too. But this was in 1993, 16 years after the real band ended. They are still the greatest band ever (in my opinion). I saw the current band this summer, and they still rock.

Well honestly, what band is ever as good as its original members? Besides Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers Band is still around, but without some of its original members...Both bands still rock, but will never be as good as the original crew.
