Has anybody been there ?
My wife took me there last night for my birthday and it was alright but I'm not sure it was better than Ruth Chris'.
The prices were way more expensive.
I've gotten out of Ruth's with the both of us getting appetizers, meals, sides and a dessert for less than $150 but we paid almost $250 last night.
The food was good but not great.
Most disappointing was the Colassal Shrimp Cocktail which contained only 4 shrimp.
For $20 how about you give me 5 or 6 ?
We had originally planned to go to Ben Benson's but we called too late for a reservation and they couldn't take us until 9:15.

I love the martinis at Ben Bensons. They're so big you can wash a baby in them.

Mortons is ok, not worth the price, Ruth Chris is also overrated
My top 2 are
Peter Lugers
Sparks
My guilty pleasure steak is Arthur's in North Brunswick

Morton's did have these gigantic baked potatos though.
I chose to go with the green beans and the hashbrown for 2 ( which wasn't that good ).
My wife got one of the salads where it's basically a head of lettuce halved and filled with the dressing and garnished w/ a few other things.
She got the bleu cheese dressing, which I'm normally repulsed by, but it was probably the only bleu cheese I ever tasted that I didn't despise.
The salad was huge and almost for 2 people even though it wasn't advertised that way.
Never been. Never been to The Palm either. I tried Ruth's Chris once and I wasn't impressed.
The best steak place in the DC area: Ray's The Steaks (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?node=cityguide/profile&id=1071592).

The day I spend $150 for dinner with my girl is the day I had better get
a blow-job from the waitress and a room for the fucking night.

never been there, that is very pricey and you guys sure could eat, that's a big meal...
had a great experience at a Hondo's in Va, Steve's Steakhouse on rte 17 in NJ. Madison's in Hoboken makes a nice filet as well as The Bistro across the street

Mortons is ok but I love Ruth Chris. Its the only chained resteraunt I actually like. It may be my favorite overall.
I think Peter Lugers is the worst. The place is a shit whole, you eat on these nasty wood tables in the back. The place is over priced for the quality of the food and so much more. I think people go there and say they like it because its fashionable to say it. I have been there with friends and they hated it as well. I know a lot of people who have gone there ad most think its ok at best.
Sparks is ok and Arthurs I have never tried.
I picky about my Steak places because I only eat Fillet Mignon. The only place that makes it to perfection is Ruth Chris. Juicy, moist, perfectly cooked and a nice size. Plus they have the best side dishes.

I respect your food opinion, but lugers steaks are top notch, but my twin bro wasn't impressed for the same reason, he is a filet mignon fan
I love a good porterhouse or filet the best

I actually make more than double that in one day.
There's no meal I can think of that's worth $150 for 2 people.
Not in an over priced stuffy ass restaurant at least.

Then you are missing out on some delicious meals.
There is a place by us in LI, Blackstone Steakhouse, that fucking smokes Mortons, Ruth Chris, etc.
They have a Kobe beef appetizer that you cook on hot rocks

The steak I had at Morton's was the best I've ever had. Lugers was second. The worst was Boulder Creek in Yonkers.

i would choose ruth chris and mortons over lugers as well. I know they try to maintain that old school steak house feel, but for 150 bucks a person fucking class it up a little. either drop the prices to make it feel old school or raise your level of decor.
Que De Chaval in Montreal is the best steak I have ever had, hands down. Around here I like this new place that opened up in Summit called Roots. It is in the center of town and they have a great bar and do an awesome job with everything I have tried

Not to turn anyone off, but I used to read the meters at Peter Lugers in Great Neck and they were in the basement where they kept the meat. The floor was absolutely covered in congealed blood and fat and easily 2 inches thick and while I didn't see any bugs, I would not at all be surprised if they didn't have vermin of some sort.

Smith and Wollensky's or Ben Benson's are my faves. Mortons did too much "chaining" there's a morton's in the damned mall by me. Smith's started to chain, but the one in Manhattan is still great. Luger's doesn't need to be good anymore, the name has taken it so far. Same can be said for Gallager's in Manhattan. It's crap.
Love,

I'm sure they're all very good, but I'm not paying all that money
to sit in a stuffy restaurant with other people to eat a steak.
Besides, a lot of those places have _ _ _ _ _ _ _ working
in the kitchen and you never know what they're doing to your food.
When I make my food at home I know exactly what's going in to it and I don't have to deal with annoying people.

Mortons not a fan
Ruth Chris good
Lugers sucks - snacks had a good take on it.

I'm fortunate to travel for business quite a bit and as such enjoy the expense account for my steak dinners exclusively...as a result what I've found is:
Mortons and Ruth Chris ARE expensive but always consistent and good.
Capitol Grill is always exceptional and generally has the best atmosphere and service of the top chain establishments.
Smith and Wollenski's is fantastic at the original but just good at the additional sites.
Almost every city has a great steakhouse that is equal to any of the 'name' places...
Just my opinion....

2 great steakhouses in the city:
The Homestead over in the meatpacking district.
The 21 Club. Put on the coat and tie and have a drink in the bar someday. It's really, really, really expensive, but really cool. Old School New York.

Peter Luger's has got the best steaks, but the restaurant's a dump and the service is poor. Homestead Steakhouse is probably my favorite. I do like Morton's. Ruth's Chris is decent but not great.

Yeah Luger's was a huge disapointment after the build up, but I actually had a shitty experience at Homesteads, service wise. I actually went to a place in Aruba, that was unbelievable for steaks, I wanna go back just for the steaks and drunk chicks that hang out all over that island...but mostly the steaks

A second for The Old Homestead. Went there the other night, no wait and it was in the words of Ronnie B., fucking fantastic.
Amazing steak, and great sides(get the Kobe Slab Bacon, which is like a 3/4 inch piece of bacon but delicious). I ordered the caesar salad and that was the only thing that left me flat, I would defniatley go back. Moderately priced, split an appetizer and no desert and it was 240 bucks with tip(probably 3 or 4 drinks with it too though).
Delfrisco's is also a good meal in a cool atmosphere but you'll pay through the nose at midtown prices. Nice meal around a night at the theater though.
