Steve Somers' constant misuse of the word "already" and his unnecessary insertion of "with the" into ANYWHERE in a sentence confuses and saddens me. He also likes to randomly end sentences with "what!" I don't know where it comes from. It's not a racial or regional thing. No one has ever talked like that anywhere, ever.

He seems like the kind of guy who stands on the subway picking wax out of his ear and eating it.

Let me preface this by saying I have been listening to Steve since about 13 when he was doing the overnights durring the early days of the fan. So in a way he is comfort food to me.

I always enjoyed his quirky unorthodox style. Is he cheesy? Yes, but he knows it. I gotta a lotta love for Steve.

You Immediately hate him, if you dislike any team he roots for.

For those of us who aren't in the New York area, can you please take a picture of Mr. Somers and post it in the thread? That way we can all participate.

 j/k Budday.

Miss Captain Midnight.

Overnight and under the covers.

One of the first times I realized I wanted to work in radio was Christmas Eve in the late 80's. Steve was charting Santa's progress and discussing it with someone at Norad who ran the Santa tracker. Great stuff.

His opening monologues, especially if the Mets happen to be doing better than the Yanks at the time, are better than any on late night TV.

He is by far my favorite personality on WFAN. One of the few who talk about hockey.

The guy is a genius. His overnight shows during the 1994 Stanley Cup playoffs were the stuff of legend.

Right now, he is the only thing worth listening to on New York radio now that WABC has dried up and gone white-bread.

Me here, you there.

What was with the "LV " thing he'd say, followed by a series of numbers and then "for those of you keeping score at home"

I think that was just the the number for the live read commercial he was about to do.
