My friend and I always talk about how we grew up in the Red Dawn era, with the threat of Red Soviets and other commies invading us. I always have recurring invasion dreams to this day. It's an awfully embarassing movie to have as part of your subconscious self.

Ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenberg, and an Indian sterotype team up with an out of control robot named Number 5. Its doesn't get more 80's.

Either Robocop or Gremlins 2 (technically came out in '90, but it was made in '89). If I had to pick any two things to completely represent that decade and its impact on history/pop culture, it would be those two movies.
That said, the 80's are packed with movies that are only the result of a frenzied coke haze. Mannequin, anyone?

Mannequin 2 was even worse. I was going to ask Leticia if she could watch Mannequin with her fear of statues.

No one said The Breakfast club yet?
my favourite RoboCop moment
[Former city councilman Ron Miller, holding the mayor hostage, makes demands of the police.]
Ron Miller: And third, I want a recount! And no matter how it turns out, I want my old job back!
Lt. Hedgecock: Okay!
Ron Miller: And I want a bigger office! And I want a new car! And I want the city to pay for it all!
Lt. Hedgecock: What kind of car, Miller?
Ron Miller: Something with reclining leather seats, that goes really fast, and gets really shitty gas mileage!

Is The Breakfast Club really THAT "80's?" I'd argue that outside of fashion, the major John Hughes teen flicks from that decade are really pretty timeless and not tha bogged down with 80's-ness, if at all.

I actually did that for posterity. There are too many old threads that have the "red X" and no picture to back it up. I'm smart, and forward thinking.

WEIRD SCIENCE!!!!
I'm not smart enough to post a picture. But if I was, it would be Anthony Michael Hall in the back of the car screaming,
"He don't even got his license, Lisa!" Good times.
