Magnolia was just way overrated IMO. I know people who think that it was literally like one of the best films ever made.

BAD movie: What Lies Beneath. God, what a pile of shit this was.

i have to admit that i'm one of the ones who think magnolia is a fabulous film. its a beautifully disturbing film about about chance interconnections, sins, and personal redemption. as for the frogs pt anderson got it from a turn of the century writer Charles Fort in his book "Book of the Damned." Who got it from Scientific American in 1873 "A shower of frogs which darkened the air and covered the ground for a long distance, is the reported result of a recent rainstorm at Kansas City." This happens, granted not on such a grand scale as in magnolia, but it does happen in storms and tornados. Its been said that the meaning of the frogs in the film is their biblical representation of redemption and forgiveness. In the bible God rains a "shower of frogs...on the Egyptians for their refusal to let the Israelites free; And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite thy borders with frogs." - Exodus 8:2. There are about thirty other references to exodus 8:2 in the movie, clocks, flight numbers, cards, billboards, etc. There is even a frogger video game in the film. You'll notice after the frogs rain the 5th act begins and forgiveness / freedom is finally granted to the characters of the film.

sorry to babble on the director pt anderson is one of my personal favorites. boogie nights at 27 yrs old and magnolia at 29. not too shabby.

as for worst films there endless, but off the top of my head oscar with sly stallone.

See, I knew all of that background information on the film and the reasoning behind the frogs... it was just annoying. It's one of those things that I understood why they were doing it, but just artistically did not agree with the decision.. I'm a real stickler for doing things correctly... and that made that movie about 15 minutes too long.

I gotta admit to one thing. I did like Jurrasic Park III. See I went into that one with low expectations and I wanted to see people get eaten by dinosaurs, I knew they could not provide any more detail to the whole INGEN thing. So lets just throw people on an Island and watch them get chewed apart. You have to admit too the scene when the Spino fights the T-Rex was cool...an awful movie from that Batman series was the last one "Batman and Robin". I can tolerate bad movies, but that one was sooo bad I could not watch it...awful!!

I won't mention movies /i/ dislike but will comment:

1- Halloween 3 - This piece of crap had nothing to do with Michael Myers And Halloweens 2-6 were great? You mean where it turns out he's a supernatural guy who is constantly rescued by a Man in Black? I'd much rather have a movie with the name halloween that had nothing to do with myers than really bad myer movies.2- Wild, Wild, West - What the hell was Will Smith thinking? Why do you put Will Smith above Kevin Kline? Why are you more shocked that ID4 star Will Smith would be part of a crappy huge blockbuster than Kevin Kline? Besides, everyone knows who should have played Jim West- Bruce Campbell. Might not have been the best movie but with any awful script Campbell would have kicked Smith's ass.

I liked Magnolia, it had an awesome cast, good writing, a little long but it helped the movie and Melora Walters- NICE!!Grease 2 totally sucked ass. They had a musical number in a bowling alley, enough said. Batman Returns...Batman & RobinI think we can admit the Nicholson Batman was the best Batman movie ever. Returns was OK, but not great. Batman and Robin was nut-squeezing bad. AI Good moments but it definitely shouldn't have been made. Let Kubrick's vision die with Kubrick, Spielberg bastardized it for a PG-13 rating. That being said Jude Law was cool and some sequences were good. Postman...Waterworld Both these movies sucked but I think Postman is worse than Waterworld.
