I prefer the look of a nice DLP, but if you are going to be less than ~10' from it, your retinas will be burned out of your skull. Plasma usually costs more, but has excellent contrast ratio. Right now, a mid sized LCD with a decent contrast ratio would probably be best for your money.

If I find a good deal on one of those LCOS/SXRD models, I'd go for one of those. They are big but the picture is amazing.

What about SXRD and OLED?

OLED intrigues me, but not too feasible for me right now. I'll wait for my high resolution, bendable screen.

dlp

picture for price is unbeatable

how bright is your room is the real question
dlp will not do well in the same space that an lcd would be ideal
if its a bright room then go with the lcd

plasma blows
avoid at all costs

What are SXRD and LOED?

OLED = Organic LEDs. Flat-panels like plasma and the wall-hanging LCDs.

SXRD/LCoS = Liquid-Crystal on Silicon. Used in Rear-Projection sets like DLP and those other LCD sets. Different companies give it different names. LCoS is the generic technology term (courtesy of Intel, I think).

Too bad it looks like SED is never gonna get off the ground.

HD DLP all the way. I have both and I like the picture on the DLP a little better than my LCD tvs. Although they say the bulb has to be replaced in a DLP from time to time, also I had a prob with a 50" Samsung DLP where it was shutting off and I had to replace some bullshit fuse or capacitor on the inside. Did I say DLP all the way? Now I'm unsure...

I just bought a 40" LCD Samsung and will have the Hi-Def DVR tomorrow. I can't wait.
Thanks for all the advise.
