Recently my dad refused to go to the doctor until my mom couldn't take it anymore.
No big deal, just a little Legionnaires' disease.

motrin, isn't that for pms?
let it go for another month so the damage will be irreversible.
can i ask how old you are?
have you ever noticed how knee and back problems seem to be exacerbated with age?
you may have guaranteed yourself the pokey old man walk.

Wow, you've obviously never played any kind of sports. Motrin, or ibuprofen, is great for any kind of muscle/joint soreness. I would just keep on ignoring it, maybe even supplement your pills with alcohol. That's what works for me.

IF YOU THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG, GO TO THE DOCTOR!
I had some issues this year. I ignored them... or tried to.
Eventually my friends were literally THREATENING me if I didn't see a doctor.
I won't go into details right here but, let's just say, they saved my life.
Get yerself checked.

I got the hiccups and a paper cut once. Had my wife rush me to the emergency room.
Recently my dad refused to go to the doctor until my mom couldn't take it anymore.
No big deal, just a little Legionnaires' disease.
Same here, my dad refused to go to the doctor until he could hardly get up anymore and my mom took him to the ER. They couldn't figure out what was wrong for a few months, Legionnaire's was what they thought at first, but it turned out to be BOOP. If he had gone to work that day he would have died. Crazy lung diseases.

Did you just wake up one day and find your knee aching, or did you do something that you think might have caused? Mine started bothering when I decided to find out what it felt like to jog at 300 pounds. It finally feels normal again (3 months later), but weightlifting (squats, leg presses) makes it feel funny. Not as bad as before though. I should probably get it checked out at some point.

Get it looked at...early detection can save you a lot in the long run. When I was younger my knee would dislocate (and sublux) all the time because there was a tendon that somehow got caught in the joint. I didnt get it looked at until I broke the top of my tibia putting it back into place. I got surgery and crutches for a month but at 16 years old I was also promised arthritis in my knee by the doc because I waited forever to get it looked at.

Don't be a pussy and just go to the doctor. It is not like he is going to make it worse. And if you wait and it becomes more serious and your in wheelchair or can't even walk, then what.
I hate doctor's as well, I hate people pretty much, but if you go and either make it better or make it more confortable, what's the crime.
JUST FUCKIN GO.

What the fuck is it with men not wanting to go to the doctor? If there's something wrong then GO TO THE DOCTOR.
Years ago my dad was bitching about not feeling well so my mother told him to go to the doctor. He didn't want to go so, yes, she badgered him. Turned out he had throat cancer. It was caught in the early stages and he survived.
Fast forward 15 years: I come home from college for the summer and dad is bitching about not feeling well. So I tell him to go to the doctor but he doesn't want to go. I DRIVE him to the doctor. Long story short-- he had advanced stomach cancer that spread to his liver. He was dead in less than a year. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if only I had come home sooner or if he had mentioned to me earlier that he wasn't feeling well.

Haven't you been exposed to the endless litany of stories and urban legends about people who did not go to the doctor on time and were vegetated or died as a result? Scary story A: Take Scottish pop star Edwyn Collins. He started having weird headaches in 2005 which he ignored. Turned out he had an anuerysm (which could have been dealt with early) which lead to a massive stroke that required a full 2 years recovery (much of it at death's door) and one arm still does not work (his son has to strum his guitar for him while Edwyn frets with his working hand). Scary story B: I had a friend who ignored stomache pains summer last year and fianlly went in for a checkup in the Fall to find he had stomache cancer. Had he gone in the summer there is a good chance he would have made it. Unfortunately, he died at the end of April (and he was even ambulatory a week prior. Fucking creepy).
All I'm sayin' is that your leg stomache probably has a cancerous aneurysm. One of the last things you want to hear your doctor say is: "If only you had come in sooner..." Other last things you want to hear your doctor say:
You have full blown aids.
You post on FBA.
Your testicles have necrotizing meningitis.
I'm not really a doctor.
This is all a dream; your true reality is that you are an Inca about to have your heart cut out and your dead body cast down stone steps in a sacrificial rite to appease the gods.
Guten Tag. Ich heisse Doktor Mengele.
Hey, did you ever see that movie "Jacob's Ladder?"
I fucked your wife. Now say "Ahhh."
Sorry for the downstairs mixup. You now have a mangina.
You have that weird thing that eventually makes you crazy and immobilizes you. God luck with that.
I have no idea what's wrong. Good luck with that.
Your dick is totally gone.
You're baby is Trisomie 17. In other words: a redhead.
You have aids because I fucked your wife's cancerous mangina with my necrotizing aneurysm.
Uh, try taking Motrin.

As a matter of fact he is playing golf today. He got out of rehab two weeks ago. Two weeks before that he was hours from dying.

thanks for the advice.:surrender:
Seriously, Z...get to a doctor.
I can relate to not wanting to go; I spent 4 and a half hours doubled over in agony and vomiting violently before I went to the hospital and found out my gall bladder was loaded with stones and had to be removed ASAP. Maybe if I had paid attention to some earlier warning signs it wouldn't have been so bad.

A friend of my mother's ignored his high blood pressure for years. He died of a massive heart attack in his sleep in his 50s.

You don't need your prostate check that often.
