I know they've talked about it on the show. I couldn't find a thread here. I was just grocery shopping, when I got a call. It was the 911 call center. They said they got a hang up call from me, and wanted to know if I was OK.

I have a Blackberry Pearl. My phone was in my pocket, but the keypad was definitely locked. I had to unlock it to answer the call. I figured the screw up was on their end, so I checked my call log. Sure enough, one minute before they called me, my phone called them!

WTF?!?!?!?

Any suggestions on how this could have possibly happened?

Thanks smarty pants. I still don't get it, though. I saw were Millie said a side button can do it but I don't see anything about it in my book.

Even a locked phone can dial 911. It's a precautionary thing. If you phone was locked and it jostled long enough to hit the 9 then 1 twice, it could conceivably call 911.

check your manual to look up "Convenience Keys". The Pearl has two convenience keys - one on the right side of the phone and one on the left.

In the settings menu, you can set your convenience key to lock your phone...maybe its that the convenience key is now set to unlock? or set to do an emergency call.
