A new Mutant has been born, Purifiers want it, Mr. Sinister wants it, the X-men want it. Who's got it? I think this has some serious potential to be a great storyline. I just got part 4. Is anyone else reading this? Yes Marc I'm a geek.
i'll have to check this out
my comic book reading these days is relegated to buying TPB's once a story line is over

I have a subscription to alot of the X-men titles sometimes they ship earlier to my house than they do to the stores. I got part 5 yesterday and read it right away. Nothing really happened again except for the last 3 frames.

Are you talking about Forge? He can build anything its his mutant power. He hit the scene long before Cable. I think he was in X-factor for a stint.

Forget X-Factor. Read Life Death 1 and 2 from the old Uncanny X-Men series. Two nonconsecutive issues about Storm that were just brilliant.

Forge's story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forge_%28comics%29)
Forge is a mutant with an innate superhuman talent for invention - an intuitive genius, it is as natural as breathing for him. He is a Native American of the Cheyenne nation. Although he was trained as a medicine man, he has primarily relied upon technology rather than mysticism to accomplish his tasks.
I believe he's been around since the early 80's, maybe even the '70's.

No not Forge. There is a couple panels in X factor I believe wher cyclops is talking to a guy with black hair and a beard that has a bit bigger build that cyclops refers to as Cable twice I think it is X Factor 25.

I don't have the issue at hand, so I can't say who it is. Cable's allegedly dead, so if there's an image of "Cable" in that issue, it's an image of a memory.
And I don't think that they've ever showed Cable with black hair and a beard.
Anyone else have that issue handy?

I'll just wait for the trade paperback to come out, because i'm sure while the books will be good, its just another x-book con, where they drag out a stpryline over all the books to up the sales.

Shit I lied it was Forge and it was in New X-Men 44
They took away his metal limbs and ponytail. How was I suppose to realize(except the name)
I could have swore it said Cable not Forge.

And sometimes it's more fun to read a good story than an overview of 20 years of X-Men continuity.

Heck, it always more fun to read the story than a summary, but I gave him the option to read the summary.

BTW, I"ve perused X-Factor #25, and every other issue of the Messiah complex (except for what came out this week), and the only bearded person I see Cyke talking to is Forge, and that's via a computer communication.
EDIT: Didn't see ToLEEdo's post above.

Crap. I read your second spoiler, so I think I know what your first spoiler is. And I don't get my comics until Tuesday.
Not going to read your first spoiler though.

I never said who it was in the first one. I have a question for you that I will make a spoiler and I want you and everyone else to answer for me after they have read part 5.
Did you think it was Cable that had the baby or did you think it was Profeesor X before the end of the issue? The way Professor X has been left in the dark about everything I thought they were gona reveal that he had the kid. Then when it was Cable I was interested but not completely shocked that he was still alive.

In response to lleeder I didn't see either of those happening. I haven't been following the X men storyline too far back. I picked up some of the event lines but thats it. But I had no idea until it came out and told you.

I just read part 7 and 8. The cover looks really freaky for part 9. Where's Cable headed? Who's the traitor? Things are heating up.

9 and 10 are amazing. Some stuff I thought would happen is happening and then theres the other stuff that happened that doesn't make much sense. Why is he doing what he's doing? And why is the other guy doing what he's doing? I think some people ar gonna step up and do some intresting things in the next couple of issues. More deaths for sure, looks like X-Force is at the end of the tunnel in February. Will they take someone out and end this threat?

Right now, I'm two issues behind waiting for last week's comics to arrive from the shop in NYC that I order from.
And the thing that bugs me is that everytime I order I keep forgetting that the New X-Men is part of this storlyine, so I forget to order the issues. Hopefully, the store still has copies.

So, I got my comics, and they were sold out of Chapter 8 of the Messiah Complex (New X-Men). Can someone tell me what happened in that issue? EDIT Nevermind. Found a synopsis on wikipedia.
Thanks.

I liked it a lot. At first reading, I thought that the baby was the reincarnation of a famous X-man, but I don't think so any longer.
Great characterization of all involved, great action, great ending.

So you don't think its Jean?
That's what I thought at first, and still think it could be. The whole grabbing of the locket was one clue, and then I thought that Cyke's memories were another clue, but then I realized that all of his memories were about giving up Cable and Jean, and thought that he decided to again do the right sacrifice for the good of the person.
I'm not saying it isn't Jean, it's just that the clues aren't as explicit as I thought at first.
BTW, that portion is one of the reasons why Messiah CompleX was great. It kept with the trend of making Cyke the stronger leader, etc.,(as with Grant Morrison and Joss Whedon's treatments) but also kept with prior characterizations of Cyke giving up the one he loved. Great story and I'm re-reading this weekend.

I think it was all different artists. No one sucked, and overall quite good.
