See my long post in the "Thanksgiving Alone" thread. I drove more than 2 hours and ended up just having to go home without Thanksgiving dinner.

Mapquest, go fuck yourself. Everyone at Google Maps, please die. Horribly. Painfully.

I knew it was a good idea to go ahead and cook a whole dinner for myself. I thought my son was staying at his mom's, but both he and my daughter just showed up. Dinner will be ready in a half hour. WEEEEEE!!!!

Originally, we were planning to have Thanksgiving at my brother's house, watch some football, etc.

Well, they all got sick, and we didn't want to expose my nearly-100 year old grandmother to that.

My aunt also invited us to their thanksgiving, but my mom turned it down because she was afraid that my grandmother wouldn't want to go.

Well, my grandmother called today and said she didn't want to come over period.

So it was just my parents and us. bleah. Don't get me wrong, I like having dinner with my parents, but it wasn't a true family get together...

For the first time in forever we didn't have a holiday at my house (only because we have construction going on right now). We went to my father-in-law's house where my 10 year old son was bored out of his mind because he was the only kid his age there.

So, we sent him up to play on my father-in-law's computer. When I went up to check on him he was checking out http://rodneymoore.com/. When I yelled at him he swore that it "just came up" and he didn't know how it happened. After some snooping I discovered that it was in my father-in-law's favorites list. Now my wife expects me to have "The Talk" with my son. She's all creeped out about her dad. And I'd just assume pretend it never happened.

That's exactly why I don't go anywhere for any Holiday.
Once I'm home I don't leave again until it's work time.
If someone wants to see me that bad they can come here.

Fuck 'em.

Dude, sorry you wer`nt feeling the true spirit of Thanksgiving today. But remember this...it took your Grandmother well over 4 hrs to prepare that meal for everyone. Longer than it took for you to drive there and back. Your heart is drier than than that Turkey could have possibly been.:nono:

These family get-togethers have the potential (if not guarantee, for some of us) for awkward and embarrassing encounters.

Luckily for me, mine was pretty relaxed. Only part of my immediate family and my uncles were present; and we ate mediocre buffet food. Yet, I am thankful that they are good people and I had the opportunity to spend the day with them. And a bonus: They were serving free Mimosas! Cheers

for the first year ever my family was totally separated on thanksgiving & today was my brother's 45th birthday. my sister in law decided not to have it this year & instead went to her sisters (i'm sure it was filled with lobster & expensive wine cause her sisters husband is LOADED!). so that left me & moms with nothing to do. my mother wouldnt let me stay home & do nothing so i decided to go to my boyfriend's brothers house & i made sure she went with a neighbor who is pretty much like my sister/ her daughter. so off to a greek thanksgiving i went. my boyfriends sister-in-law's parents can speak english, they just choose not to ever do so. so it was greek speak, greek music & greek soap operas on tv all night. it was awesome. i just sat there in silence for most of the night not having a clue what the fuck was going on. & rumor has it that my boyfriend's sister-in-law is a pretty terrible cook, so my boyfriends brother wouldn't let her make anything but the mashed potatoes. that's usually the best part of thanksgiving a nice turkey-potato combo on the fork, but that was not the case. they may have been the worst mashed potatoes ever ever ever. it was like she mashed up some plain potatoes with some water & tossed in a bit of cheddar cheese at the end. BLECH! later on she asked me if i ate anything & i was all "oh yeah i ate a lot of turkey... i'm stuffed!" thankfully i had made brownies & they had some flying saucers from carvel. that made it all worth it.

we came home about 5 hours or so after dinner & ate some cold pizza left over from lunch yesterday.

I had to work.

Sat there for most of the night watching college football and ate some BurgerKing.
And then, by some grace of alcoholic God, when some people DID come into the bar, I had to seperate 2 fights, and finally got sick and tired and threw everyone out and closed early.
