Mass Effect

This game looks awesome and is almost enough to get me to buy an XBox. There are rumors that it may be released for PC, but right now they are completely unsubstantiated.

So, has anybody bought and played Mass Effect yet? I really want to hear some first hand feedback about it before I pull the trigger.

Slowly but surely, the 360 is coming out with exclusive titles that is making me need to go out and get one.
From what I've seen, this game looks amazing.

This isn't a First-Person tyope game is it????

I'm juggling (and drooling) between this and Assassins Creed. Both look amazing. But I don't know too many people who are playing these titles.

No, it's a role playing game. But the combat plays like Gears of War, sort of an over-the-shoulder type combat.

In the other thread. it came up that AC doesn't really have an ending, though.


The only thing that pisses me off, is that I don't want to spend that money for the 360, just to have to send it in because of whole "red ring of death" thing.

No, it doesn't look like it. However, the storyline is planned for a trilogy of games (Mass Effect is the first chapter), and there will be transitional missions available to "fill in the story" between game releases. I am assuming there will be charges to download those.

Yeah, I've played it. It is pretty cool and has some pretty impressive looking graphics. It is linear so you can spend a ton of time wandering around - side missons etc.. I read somewhere that the actual game play start to finish lasts only 5-6 hours but I spent 4 days and did not even finish the very first mission. There is so much to do and so many places to go. I havent seen sex with aliens yet but I did get a lap dance by an alien. Space Spooge.

Yeah I think in geek terms, linear means you have to follow a given path vs doin your own thing, not having to follow the main story. Eggs.

I had a bunch of other games waiting before this one and finally got to it a few days ago. It took me a few hours to get into it, but this game is ridiculous awesome. I can see myself sinking hours and hours into it.

I was hopelessly addicted to this game. I absolutely loved the story line of it. Everytime I turned the game on I wasted hours and put off all other responsibilities. My favorite game in a long time.

Holy crap was I surprised when I left behind one of my squad at the AA turret before you confront Saren for the first time, and WE REALLY LEFT THEM THERE TO DIE! Holy crap! I thought we'd be sweeping in at the last second to save them and shit, but no, you get back on the Normandy and everyone is like HOW COULD WE LEAVE HER THERE TO DIE!

when is this scene? im on my second time through and never saw the choices in the first run. and have you had to make a decision about wrex yet?

You have to play it right and talk to your love interest after each mission on the Normandy, since I had a female character, I had a choice between Kaiden or Liara. If you choose all the right conversation options, right before you go to Ilos you get the scene.

I had enough Charm to not kill Wrex. I also got his family armor on that side quest which I think makes it easier to convince him to stay

I've finally decided to go back and play through this a second time with a different character and I am 15 hours into the game without even touching the main story beyond the opening missions. That's always a good thing in a game.
