I have always been a fan of the legendary Lynyrd Skynard. At the same time, the band has always been elusive to me. (Ronnie Van Zant, the lead singer, died tragically in 1976) I was never able to see them in concert and never really was able to view any footage of them. I have always wanted to see Ronnie sing.

I know some may say "another song has a better guitar instrumental", but none can compare with the history of this band, the soul and spirit put into this song, the deep meaning to this song, the true grit of the South, and the just plain raw talent shown here.

To see the best guitar mix you will see in a long time, you have to view both parts (the song is long so it had to be cut in two parts). (the best part is part 2)

Never forget those brief, beautiful moments with Duanne Allman and Eric Clapton.

2/11/70 Fillmore East Late Show

NFA, Cumberland, Cold Rain, High Time, Me & My Uncle, Dark Star*> Spanish Jam*> Lovelight* E: Uncle John
*with Duane and Gregg Allman and Peter Green

The playing is fantastic and the sound is pretty darn good too.

And talk about guest stars. The Darkstar is facinating due to the addition of Peter Green, and Duane Allman on guitar and Arthur Lee from Love on percussion. It's much funkier and groove oriented than how the Dead normally play it. During Lovelight Butch Trucks gets on Mickey's drum kit, Mick plays percussion, Barry Oakley plays second bass, Peter Green and Duane Allman play guitar, and Greg Allman joins on organ and vocals. Pig and Greg trade off lines and everybody jams their asses off, incredible. Some people claim that Danny Kirwan is on stage as well but I've seen pictures and I think people are confusing him with Phil. They both have very blond hair and Phil's back is turned to the camera. Anyway, Mick Fleetwood is however, dancing stage right.

Sorry, no disrespect for the band. Thanks for the correction.

Thanks.

I guess no one knows whose on Gary's shirt. Any guesses?

It looks like Ronnie Van Zant himself...maybe a Skynyrd shirt?

It's hard to read the lettering at the top because of his hair but that would be my guess.

Either that or Bat Masterson.
