View Full Version : Mac - Airport networking security issue

Hiya Mac buddays.
Here's the issue: I'm in a hotel, and checking email and doing some browsing via Airport on the hotel's free wifi connection. Then I go to write a quick note in MW Word, and while I'm in Word an alert pops up that there are too many users using Word based on my software license. In other words, someone was using MS Word on my computer over the network.
That freaks me out. What can I do, settings wise, so that when I use my Airport connection it only connects to the internet and not with any other computers on the network?
Intel Macbook Pro, OSX Tiger.
Thanks in advance.

go toyour sharing system preferences and turn off file sharing.
do you not have it password protected? no one should be able to access your applications folder....

Get a PC
Does someone have to say this every time a Mac question is asked? And getting a PC will not decrease your security issues.

Just set your firewall settings to not allow access to your laptop.

What's the matter, your anti-Mac joke not getting the response you hoped?

If you think I'm riled up now, you should look away when I get off the couch, it might permanently blow your mind.
