Anyone here playing this game online, kinda better then Halo 3' multiplayer

I like the idea of having to upgrade your weapons and such to unlock new things

I got this for Christmas for the PS3 and holy shit do I suck. I've played a few rounds online and I think I'm starting to get better. My last round I played was a 9 kill 13 death round in team deathmatch. Not good but far removed from my initial 4 kill 25 death rounds.

They REALLY stacked this game against newbs. Not only are you up against more experienced people when you first play you have shit weapons and they have God weapons. It's fucking tough trying to take down guys with red dot scopes on advanced rifles when you are using the iron sights on a lousy AK47.

No they don't. Not for the games. The games are all hosted by players.

PSN allows for players to set up their own dedicated servers, and Sony and certain third party developers host their own dedicated servers. I know Sony runs a large amount of dedicated servers for Warhawk and Resistance in particular.

I believe you mean private matches, where you host a game, choose the options, and you moderate the game. As opposed to public matches where you join someone else's game.

Both are being hosted by microsoft or 3rd party servers, the only difference is that in private they allow you to make the rules. The multiplayer processing is being done by the game companies' game servers.

I don't think they would be allowed to use your game console as a server, plus they're not made to handle the extra load.

Xbox Live online gameplay sucks. A weapon like Halo 2’s energy sword or Gears of War’s shotgun offer strong evidence that the user hosting a match—which translates into having no lag at all—has a terrible advantage over the other players.

Ha, nice way to put it. I actually read all five examples. I hope that's not true.

Although I've never had any issues with live(until this christmas) and I never experienced any bad lag on Live, I still feel hoodwinked. I never hosted a game before but I certainly don't remember seeing any warning that your 360 will become a server if you did.

With low and restrictive ISP caps on d/l and u/l I can't see them not making people very aware of this.

There was a good article about developing this game in Game Informer from last month (Tiberium was on the cover), it sounded interesting especially about how they had to fit the game on only 50 MB (they actually came in at 49)

No, I mean hardcore Team Deathmatch and Hardcore Search and Destroy. Very limited HUD(no weapon or ammo indicator, no radar unless you have UAV recon in the air), no grenade indicator, no kill cam and weapons do much more damage. 90% of the time your are dead with one hit.

Im sorry you are right, now that i think about it. It also has team killing on which is what turns me off as some people just go in there and start team killing on purpose. But you are right its very very intense action as you play these modes.

However i think Sabotage is the best mode in the game

I mostly use M16 and red dot, with extra damage and penetration. If I'm not using M16, its usually the SAW with a red dot with extra damage and hip shooting accuracy.

Ok here we go

I personally dont use bandolier, i dont like camping so im more of a run and gun guy and never find myself running out of bullets (though this has changed a bit since i have gotten better) because you will run over other peoples ammo and get the pick ups. Also do this when you come across another gun switch to your pistol and switch to that weapon you will be able to carry two primary weapons.
I also only use one gun at a time to finish it out and get the experience up but now avoid using the single shot machine guns and shotguns as i dont think they are worth the effort, and never switch mid round.

My main perks that i use are Claymores (a key when using the sniper rifle by the way as it covers your back just be sure to place them in places where the enemy cant readily see them.) until i get the three grenades, if you toss the three at the red dots you will get one kill out of 3 every time.

The other ones that i use are UAV Jammer as this makes you invisible when the enemy puts up a UAV and martyrdom. I just feel i get more kills with martyrdom then any of the other perk 3's. I also sometimes switch to the maximum damage perk instead of UAV Jammer or will use Sonic Boom when i have the 3 grenades at times because it boosts the damage and blast radius of the grenades (including martyrdom). I also never use the grenade launcher option on any of the guns.

But thats just for me as i play a different style (I never use sniper because i cant sit still in one spot and my hands just shake to much from too many drugs in my lifetime). Send me a friend request and we will play together.

I think the main thing is to play with people you know, as you get better teamwork and communication are the key. When i play with my friends we usually just talk about non sensical things while the game is going on but communicate on where people are

The worst is when you're playin and some annoying little kid gets in the room and starts talkin trash and actin like a kid, then people just level him with brutal shit about his parents. Sometimes the kid seems like he's barely 10 and they hit him with abortion, aids, racism, tell him to go kill himself, tell him every hole his mother took it in etc... I like to trash talk but frux it's just evil with a kid. I'm sure the parents are clueless it's happening too.

I remember this discussion about Xbox Live vs PSN... It was pointed out thax XBOX owners host the online game sessions as a dedicated server would(saving MS bandwith and server costs etc..)

Live Search is in the clear lead with approximately 75,000 (50%) of the servers pushing out those less-than-desirable search results, followed by Hotmail. The other notable property occupying a large chunk of the servers would be “other” (appropriately named), which one could assume be dedicated to XBOX Live services and the like.

Assuming these statistics are real and accurate, then at the growth rate of 10,000 servers a month Microsoft should be at 218,000 servers at the end of August 08. A mind-blowing number. They’re going to need more horses.
